If Yao was CNT's head coach, he will definately tell his team to try their best and beat Greece then beat Argentina in the next round. I know it's a ''meaningless'' game but I still think that they should've tried.

In a meaningless game against Greece China rested, losing to the Greeks 91-77. But China did not rest as much as its quarterfinal opponent, Lithuania, which lost to Australia 106-75.

Lithuania will neverless finish first in group A and meet China, which will finish fourth in Group B. Lithuania is still more beatable than Group A's second-place Argentina which will face Russia later today and finish second win or lose. Argentina lost to Lithuania earlier in the tourney 79-75.

Yao Ming played only 18 minutes today, resting for the quarterfinal round. Zhu Fangyu played 12 minutes. Liu Wei played 8 minutes.

China trailed 27-15 after one quarter and 46-24 at the half. China's defense was as bad against Greece in the first half as it was good against Germany.

But China rallied in the second half, when Greece was resting. It outscored Greece 30-23 in the third quarter and 23-22 in the fourth. Such is the gamesmanship in international tournaments like this one.

Yao Ming led China with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Wang Zhizhi (214-C-79) had 14 points and 8 rebounds in 25 minutes. Wang Shipeng and Yi Jianlian each had 11 points and Sun Yue scored 9.

In what might be a development with implications for the next round, Zhang Qingpeng had 5 points in 18 minutes while Chen Jianghua had no points in 23 seconds. Perhaps this shows that Coach Jonas Kauslauskas has more confidence in Zhang than in Chen.

Ioannis Boursousis and Vasileios Spanoulis each scored 19 points for Greece while Antonios Fotsis scored 17
