Just an aside, I know that this reactor is brought up a lot in anti-nuclear-power demonstrations (along with 3 mile island, which was one big PR nightmare, but not dangerous), one of the major points in the defense is that we (the US, and probably france, britain, anyone in there right mind) use reactors with a negative void coefficient and so while they are still somewhat dangerous, you have a much greater chance of the reactor simply stopping, rather than the reaction running out of control.
Man, the whole situation is just tragic. I'm basically speechless right now. All of this makes you really appreciate life as we know it.
Art Bell was discussing this website on his show last night. He said he was trying to contact the webmaster and get her on his show.
Chemical Engineer. I work on all sorts of strange things though (not an oil-industry person) and spent some time looking at nuclear physics for my job. As for books - The Truth About Chernobyl by Grigori Medvedev, Andre Sakharov is really good. You can find it on amazon.
wow...we've really learned to destroy stuff well, haven't we? great. we can't keep families together, but i'll be damned if we can't blow the world up 20 times over. woo hoo!!
