Believe there is a work around (though more costly) -- transfer points to hotel partner, like Marriott Rewards, then Mariott to SW-- those will qualify.

That is correct, but you're not getting 1 to 1 points. you're best value is Hyatt gold passport which will give you 25:12. Roughly 200-230k points to achieve companion pass.

Im shocked Amex has not started a temporary 100,000 point offer, maybe they are waiting for March 12th.

I buy all my plane tickets on my AMEX Platinum and always used Chase Preffered and now Reserve Points on hotels

Amex had a 100k offer running not that long ago. I was pretty tempted by it.

As I stated I believe earlier in the thread. I have the Chase Freedom/Freedom Unlimited/Sapphire Reserve. About a week ago I got a offer for a Chase United Mileage Plus Explorer card with a 70,000 mile bonus.

Would I be eligible for that card (that being my 4th Chase card) ?? One of my Chase Freedom cards I have had for 2 or 3 years.

Yes you should be. I have freedom, sapphire preferred and reserve. Was approved for both personal southwest and business southwest. I did have to call in for both to be reconsidered and to clarify information, but I don't see why you wouldn't get it. Make sure you're not passed the 5/24 rule
