That way the division champ shirts can read: "WE HAVE THE DIRTY SOUTH ON LOCK"

AFC West: Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

NFC West: 49ers, Cardinals, Rams, Chargers

I think the Rams end up staying in St. Louis.

In the 90s/80s you would have loved that though.

The Raiders right now are about 2-3 years away from peak, which should coincide with Denver and KC deteriorating due to age. Seattle thrown in would kill everything.

Seattle doesn't look like the PED monster it used to. That dynasty has about the same window as DEN/KC, IMO. Wilson's new contract will see to that.

I'm trying to figure out why it's so hard to keep the Chargers and Raiders in the same division regardless of if they're playing in the same stadium. What am I missing?

They would be playing a lot of common opponents (all but 2 games), and would present some potential scheduling headaches for their home games.

That being said, I don't think it would be impossible to keep them in the same division.

    1) Same reason the Jets and Giants are in different divisions, too many overlapping opponents and schedule conflicts

    2) The NFL likes having both conferences in all geographic regions, this allows visiting team fans to see their favorite team at least once every 8 years

I feel horrible for St. Louis, I'm too young to have experienced the Oilers leaving, but this is really sad.

    It gets worse

It's their own fault. They built the stadium without the input or demands of an NFL owner and that's why it become outdated so quickly. Stadiums in Carolina and Washington were built around the same time and have kept up with NFL demands.

I think this opens up a real possibility of the Raiders moving down to San Antonio. That is the market that would be most willing and capable to build a stadium with public money. Jerry Jones can't stop that from happening if San Antonio presents a very real stadium plan and can sell the NFL on the value of the city with regards to NFL fans and local companies.

They are not staying in Oakland for the long term.

Yes! Houston, Atlanta, Vegas in the same division would be amazing.
