Just goes to show how many sickos are out there on the internet.

Child molesters deserve every ounce of beatdown they will get when they show up in prison. A guy who played on the basketball team with me in high school is doing 70 years for molesting elementary school kids. Seemed like a good guy, went to church and was a good student. You never know what they're up to behind closed doors.

Channel 2's found it's sweeps story angle, without having to resort to the ol' stripper expose.

But it's just too damn entertaining to watch these guys get busted, particularly when they run away.

anyone who anyway condemns the news station for doing this is misguided.

The safety of children supercedes the rights of these guys. If this is what needs to be done to catch people fishing for children -- I'm could not be more strongly in support

any lawyers: If cops did this would it be legal? it doesn't sound anymore illegal than cops posing as drug dealers or prostitutes.

I'm pretty sure that if cops do it, it's entrapment, but it's fine when private citizens or organizations do it.

Anti-entrapment law is a regulation wisely placed on the police force, who have a little too much power as it is. It's one of the few things separating us from a police state.

I think the main problem with it is that the entrapper may entice someone to cross a line that they might not have otherwise. You can't have one party or organization being both the tempter and enforcer. In other words, the police should be preventing crime, not creating it so that they have something to do.

I think we (and channel 2) are overlooking the much bigger problem here...

    1) Why the hell are 13 year old girls offering to meet up with strange men they've never met before?

    2) Where the hell are their parents?

"By mom, I'm going to give a blowjob to sexydude69....Can you TIVO American Idol for me?"

They should do this every night. Not only would it continue to expose these guys(hard to believe how many there are out there!), but it's pretty damn entertaining to see their faces when the reporters open the door.

Exactly. It's a scary world. I have no problem with the techniques they use to catch them... it pales in comparison to the stuff these guys are trying to get away with. People need to know what kind of scumbags are out there.

The where are the parents question is valid -- but just because a kid gets crappy uncaring parents doesn't mean we shouldn't try to protect them. The kid didn't pick the parents.

I also don't think it is illegal for cops to do this (though I must admit I'm getting my info from the tv show COPS - not from any real knowledge). But don't cops pose as drug dealers and prostitutes all the time in "sting" operations?

I don't think they are really enticing these people to cross a line they are just putting the bait out there and seeing who bites.
