Trust me, oddly enough I AGREE its a HORRIBLE look based on previous string of questionable actions, culminating in this vain incident I think the main mistake is posting it on IG like you said. Its even everything thats a criticism of social media era, of (millenials) making everything a narcisstic self exposure for "likes" instead of substance. Some things are best left out of view, no one needed to know of it. He could show himself doing ANYTHING ELSE and come out looking ok. But he's on some no-drugs Johnny Manziel raging party tour. And these outings DO take TIME, FOCUS, and ENERGY to do. Especially DURING season. But, besides posting it, should he be only staying home sad about everything? Does he have to do an "appropriate" showing of apology and regret? What if he planned the trip well in advance and didnt want to let down his friends bailing out?
