The player Parsons is very similar to is Andrei Kirilenko (thx to Wexler/MattJ for that comparison). Its a different time these days with contracts, but once upon a time AK signed a 6yr 86mill contract with the Jazz after his rookie contract. Parsons will never get that large of a contract, but glue guys who can do a little bit of everything are coveted. Batum is another example, his contract is 4yr 46 mill but the Blazers felt they needed to keep him. While Morey would want Parsons at a cheaper contract, l can see a team offering similar to that to Parsons.
When Kirilenko got that contract, he was an All Star and twice all-defense, NBA leader in blocks and still only 23. He was at a point where it seemed 'hey, if he just stays healthy and doesn't improve anymore, he's going to be an all star again and he's worth the money... but if he adds a shot, he's a superstar'. Parsons isn't anywhere near that stage. Batum wasn't at that stage either when he signed his contract.
AK47 is an interesting comp, but yeah, he has been a better defender over the course of his career than I suspect Parsons will be. He also has a lesser 3P shot. Slightly different players, but as good a comp as most. I still say Parsons is a prettier version of Luol Deng
He has the potential to be a star player... 1. He's already gotten the highest acclaim you can get in the NBA: Kobe giving him credit for being a top notch young-gun... (Kobe doesn't give out compliments freely) 2. He has made drastic improvements from his Rookie year to this year, and he is only going to continue to grow with each off season. 3. He has a good offensive mindset, and he enjoys locking down key players on the defensive end. I give him 2-3 more years and i can see him making an All-Star appearance.
He's one of the 3 Ninjas, a BFF! You may be able to find better talent than CP25 but not necessarily better chemistry. Spoiler credit http://luvnbasketball.tumblr.com/
Solid 3pt shooter, great fakes, good at attacking, and good passer. I been fan since gator days and this guy has improved every season I have seen him play. He is excellent team player who is all about winning and my fav player no doubt.
AK definitely blocks more shots than parson, but otherwise, 1 on 1 and perimeter defense they're alike. And oh yeah, they're both freaking white boys.
Parson has improved his offensive # across the board. He should be in discussion for MIP. Rookie TS% .513 ppg 9.5 This year TS% .581 ppg 15.1 Rocket have him under contract for under million for 2 more years. The same year Lin and Asik contract expires.
