So your saying you have to be a great one on one player to be a star? Being a great team player is not enough? Hmmmm

Name one star that didn't / doesn't fit those two criteria.

He is actually very good at recognizing when there is an open lane to go to the basket and I'm pretty sure has a high conversion rate. I anticipate he will make the layups because at his height combined with fundamentals and decent athletic ability, it seems he has no difficulty finishing. Doing this regularly IS equivalent to creating your own shot.

Sure he can't create for himself at the level of a Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant, just by simply creating space off the dribble, but he's not entirely dependent on the team offense to get his shot off like you think he is.

But then again a team with James Harden and Jeremy Lin, you don't need Parsons to go one on one. You just need him to slash, come off screens, play off the ball, etc.

Additionally, I do think he can become close to an elite defensive player, like he showed last season in his rookie year.

It's not an insult to consider Parsons less than star material. He's looking like a very good starter, possibly a fringe all star someday (he might make one or two, when other players are hurt or struggling), and a valuable player to have.

If he's our fourth best player (which he is), we're well off.

I have been a fan of Parsons since he got his first start in the NBA. Heck, I thought initially he was destined for a life in the D-League. He has slim hopes of ever reaching an all star game. But on the other hand he has a great shot to become a top 6th-8th small forward in the league. And that is no insult believe me. Two all stars and three top 6th-8th players means that the Rockets are playing every year for a championship. Unfortunately we will see if the Rockets can afford him in another 27 months.

He's our 2nd best player and 3rd most valuable after Asik and Harden.

LOL. Yes, Pippen was a great defensive player, but probably never top five in a single year. Hakeem, Dikembe, Robinson, Mourning, Rodman all were better defensive players. Only so much a wing defender can do.

I don't think Parsons will be a star, but he definitely has a shot at being a top 10 SF. I do think he has one more big year of improvement in him as he can still improve his 3 point shooting.

I don't think you can necessarily compare Pip the perimeter defender to low post defenders....

BJ Armstrong was an all-star ... just saying

Reggie Miller wasn't great 1-on-1 ... he just shot the heck out of the ball
