Damn, we lost in the first round and he's like "What, we need another piece? Bring in Melo but call him the 4th piece!" That's it?

It would have been really unwise for Parsons to pass up the Mavs' offer.

To do so would be hoping that some other team would give him as rich a contract but on a schedule that is more aligned with the Rockets' timetable.
And with the expectation that the Rockets would match so that he could return to Houston.

No way. He had to take Cubans' money.

Don't think anyone is mad at him taking the money, just the way he's handling the situation afterwards. He went to Yahoo and talked bad about the organization for treating him unfairly. It may not seem like a big deal because all teams makes cutthroat decisions regarding their teams, but since Morey took over and started his revolving door of wheeling and dealing it has painted the Rockets as ruthless, doesn't care about their players. Once again though all teams do this, it's just been magnified with the Rockets. Should've just left to Dallas, thanked Houston and went on with his new team.

The biggest problem is the negative impact it may make on pitching the idea of playing in Houston even after DM is gone.

Houston is not a destination franchise, and any negative rep that the team receives will only hamper our ability to land free agents that much more.

It is pretty hard in the NBA to stay true to yourself and being modest.

I would not be surprised if out of 100 players there is probably only one guy that can maintain his humility.

But 80 percent of players know how to shut their mouth at the very least.
Tmac was a two time scoring champ and he was flamed by fans.

So what happens to Parsons if he cannot succeed?

Last season Parsons could loan Dwights Porsche. Now he can buy one for himself. The guy got really lucky. He could not reach $1 mil/yr. in the Rockets.

I just want someone (Adrien? Dorsey? Bev?) to deck him once when he comes over and plays here.

    Shut yo' mouth, you a**hole

The difference is that Morey is upfront and honest about it.

Every team treats their players like assets. Barring a handful of longtime franchise faces, they'd all trade most of their roster players in a blink to upgrade their team.

Morey showed the wizard behind the curtain and people act like its shocking. It's a BUSINESS and everyone knows it. The Team's chase the best player for the minimum money, and the players look for the most money for their talents. However, we don't like to admit that this is the truth.

Posters on the forum demand that players be released, traded, signed all the time. It's the same objectification of players that GM's do... however when it's a player we like suddenly we aren't treating them fairly or like human beings?

We want players to stay on our teams even though it's a bad situation for them, yet we're the first ones to demand that they be shown the door when they perform poorly or have health issues. We want players who aren't doing well gone no matter how much they've personally sacrificed for the team.

Look at how much Dywane Wade did for the Heat, yet after the finals many Heat fans were demanding that he retire or be traded.

Kobe brought 5 rings to the Lakers yet when the Lakers give him a big contract as a thank you he's suddenly a villain.

Fans are fickle and hypocritical. So are many GM's.

This year's "great pick up" is next year's "bust". This year's "under performer" is next year's "the FO screwed up and should have seen it coming!".

Maybe Parsons wanted more "ego stroking". Maybe Parsons wanted smoke blown up his butt.

Morey called it the way he saw it and Parsons feelings were hurt. Maybe Morey was being more of a friend and treating him more like a "human being" than the GM's who tell a guy like Parsons "You're a franchise player".

What do you want out of your employer? Honesty? Or blowing smoke up your butt to manipulate your Ego?

Parsons is completely entitled to disagree with Morey's assessment of his talent -- it is after all just Morey's opinion. Offended? That's simply childish.

I'm disappointing we couldn't retain parsons but the guy went out their and got a 14 million dollar raise, can't blame him for that. I definitely want to beat the mavs next year but I honestly don't really wish him the worst. The more I think about it, the more it make sense for the rockets to have let him walk and keep Ariza. It's a better value and keeps the options open for us to improve instead of being locked in for the next 2 years.

Asimov felt disrespect. Boo hoo. You think he's better than Howard? Lol. Parsons felt disrespect. Boo hoo he isn't better than ariza. Lin is not better than harden, you want Lin instead of harden. Feelings get hurt. Players always want more time, more shots and more money. If you aren't making some players unhappy you aren't doing your job right. He isnt their friend, he's their boss. The best motivation is knowing to get a raise play better. Play worse and you are traded or released. Be professional not a cry baby.

What people need to realize is that the Rockets scouted and drafted Parsons. They developed him and have seen him from close quarters daily. If anything, Rockets would know best about his ceiling and how much he has left as far as improvement goes (at least you would hope so).

That and perhaps his recurring niggling back issues was a red flag in giving him such a contract.

that would make houston look terribly trashy, no one would want to play for a team like that. I hope nothing like that happens.

The way Parsons came out and said Cuban is the best owner in the NBA and Carlisle is the best coach in the NBA...I know he is kissing some major ass but...man...what a kiss ass! He hasn't even suited up yet. lol

Enough, seriously, he's gone. There's no reason to regurgitate all this crap. Lin felt disrespected. Big deal. Parsons felt the Rockets didn't believe in him enough. Big deal. Morey coughed up a pick to get rid of Lin when he didn't have to. Ouch! OK, that is a big deal, but you know what? Big deal. Let's just move on and quit wallowing in self pity and senseless drama.

Morey will collect more assets, and we will get another chance to get our 3rd star, maybe at the deadline, probably next offseason. Until then, let's focus on the players we have and the players we might get, not the ones who are no longer here. CF needs to move on and quit dwelling on what could have or should have happened.

Dude, we got several months before the first real game. We need to dwell on this and beat this dead horse at least another couple weeks. There will be time to stop dwelling on this and move on next week or the week after. Until then we got nothing but summer ball.
