The only reason Baylor doesn't have a top 25 win in OU is because we beat them so bad that it knocked them out of the rankings. A win in Norman isn't considered a quality win anymore? Come on.
Stop crying. Baylor plays almost the exact same schedule as TCU. Baylor hasn't played the better teams yet. Win the next three games and Baylor hop TCU.
TCU has a win over OU too, so it's not terribly relevant. You're done with college football because of a meaningless poll in November that affects nothing at all?
By the end of the year, OU will be back in and Minnesota will be out so the Bears and TCU will have 2 top 25 wins heading in to the last week where Baylor gets a chance to get their 3rd with K State.
Who would've thought that a ref calling a phantom pass interference call to automatically give Baylor the win vs. TCU as opposed to the game going to OT would potentially impact the national championship? Wow. But if both win out, Baylor will finish ahead so some of you should chill for now. TCU could lose to Texas or Baylor to K-State
All of that is true, and yet irrelevant to today's rankings. That's why its so bizarre that you're done with college football due to a meaningless midseason ranking.
People bring up the phantom call but don't mention the fumble that occurred after a nasty face mask penalty that wasn't called. Baylor was marching down the field like it did all game long on that particular drive.
And was stopped on third and long without enough time to get another possession which would've led to OT. Doesn't matter anymore anyways, a win is a win. Just funny that a game that should've gone to OT (with perhaps the same result as Baylor was scoring at will) and did not May end up deciding the national championship As a TCU alum, Baylor won and should (and will) make the playoff if they win out.
Auburn shouldn't even be ranked after that disgraceful performance they put on display... /typicalfanoverreaction
But there wouldn't be the urgency in all of the great matchups over the last few weeks. Let's see how 4 teams works first. I think it's the perfect number.
MSU, even had they beaten OSU, would probably be on the outside looking in right now. But regardless, now OSU is the Big10 leader, and their loss to VaTech probably cost them any shot at the playoffs. An undefeated OSU is almost certainly in the top 4 at the end of the season.
Ohio State has almost zero chance to get in. No way they jump a 1-loss TCU, Baylor, Mississippi State (assuming they drop one), etc. Their win over Michigan State was their only truly impressive performance...it wasn't that long ago that they nearly lost to Penn State. Oh, and that Virginia Tech loss will haunt them. That's not just some mere loss...it was a bad loss (the game wasn't that close), to a bad team that's currently sub-.500, in Columbus. Heck I could see an argument for a 2-loss SEC team getting in (although that's not going to happen) over OSU. The Buckeyes are done...they'll probably play in the Cotton Bowl. I still think there's a pretty good chance that Florida State could drop a game between now and the end of the regular season. FSU's a very good team, but they've been playing with fire too many times already this season. They remind me of the Lakers from a decade ago...i.e. that "turn it on, turn it off" mentality. FSU has only had ONE game this season where they dominated start to finish...their win over lowly Wake Forest. Anyway, Miami this weekend may have a decent shot; apparently they've been playing better lately. If the Florida that destroyed Georgia shows up against FSU, then the Seminoles could be in trouble in that game. And then there's the ACC champ game, likely against Duke...although I think that one's less likely to be an upset. If FSU drops one game, they are toast IMO. Both TCU and Baylor can get in if FSU drops a game and either Alabama loses one more or if Miss. State loses twice. The CFP needs to expand to at least 8 teams.
