Each DL/DB/LB has to have a backup for byes if they are starting. Are both defensive flex spots going to be starting? If so, you have to have a backup to manage byes, correct? You can use the backup from one of your other def player spots, but what if they need to be used for the DL/DB/LB position? Then what? My calculations - 1 DL Backup 1 LB Backup 1 DB Backup 2 Def Flex Backup If backup is needed for flex positions, then that would total 9.
Rockets34, First off they don't typically all have byes the same week... Having 1 or 2 back up defensive guys is enough. You start 13 players each week and only have 8 bench slots, so not every starting slot will have a designated backup - you will have to add/drop throughout the season, possibly even a starter from time to time.
