Ah, well, say Charlotte fans (all three). We'll always have Bismack. And whenever you get down, remember.....Batum's contract, the gift that keeps on giving.
I can’t imagine what it must feel like being a Hornets fan Where is the hope? Nobody wants to go there in free agency. U can’t make the playoffs, but you’re also not bad enough to get a great lotto pick. When they have had a good lotto pick, it ends up being MKG with the 2nd overall pick or Cody Zeller with the 4th overall pick. Now they might lose Kemba for nothing. My goodness.
Kemba Walker - Carsen Edwards - Tremont Waters Jaylen Brown - Marcus Smart - Romeo Langford Gordon Hayward - Max Strus(2-way) Jayson Tatum - Semi Ojeleye - Grant Williams - Guerschon Yabusele Daniel Theis(RFA) - Robert Williams https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27066586/sources-celtics-front-runners-sign-kemba The Boston Celtics have emerged as the front-runners to sign Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker in free agency, league sources tell ESPN. Walker's eight-year career with the Hornets appears to be coming to close, with owner Michael Jordan no longer determined to extend far enough financially to re-sign his franchise player, league sources tell ESPN. Walker, a three-time All-Star, is expected to be offered a four-year, $141 million contract from the Celtics when free agency opens Sunday at 6 p.m. ET -- a deal that he's increasingly likely to accept, league sources said. Boston can renounce the rights to restricted free agency Terry Rozier to clear the space to start Walker on a four-year deal beginning at $32M annually. Walker can plug into a Celtics lineup that includes Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown. Boston can still pursue a center with its $4.8 million exception and deliver a roster at the start of the season that could be competitive with the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.
[Wojnarowski] After a season of locker room turmoil often centered on Irving's discontent, the Celtics crave the stability and leadership that Walker could bring -- along with an All-Star talent in the prime of his career
Walker is good, but for the Celtics losing Kyrie and Al will hurt. Not sure Kemba is the splash you want, but maybe all they can get. Adding Capela however and you’re talking a very solid off-season.
That Celtics team is not good enough, unless Hayward comes back as the Utah Jazz Hayward and Tatum/Brown develop into somehting bigger. But regardless, it seems pretty clear they would have too many guards/wings and a big need of a center, i guess they'll try to move Smart and other minor pieces or pick/s to solve that. If the Rockets can sign DeAndre in free agency, i wonder how possible would be a trade like Capela for Smart and the Grizzlies pick.
If Kemba Walker signs with Boston, the Hornets are complete idiots. Either you offer Walker a five-year Super Max contract realizing you are in a market where you must always overpay players to convince them to stay, or you trade him during the season to get young players and picks in return. Even now, the Hornets should wise up and offer Walker a five-year Super Max contract so they have the ability to trade him later and acquire assets down the road. Letting him walk to Boston for nothing is incredibly stupid.
