Don't mean to derail the thread too much, but on a side note Me and my friend were arguing about the schedule for the NBA. He was arguing that the NBA purposely set the schedule easier for the Celtics to give them a good look with a winning record (winless actually) to create more hype and whatever for the team. What do you guys think? I can't believe the NBA would do that for that reason. There are too many different factors in making schedules such as multiple teams using same arenas, tv time, traveling, etc What do you think?
Uhh, yeah...your friend is an idiot. There is no such thing as an easy NBA schedule. The Celtics' schedule after the all star break is brutal...18 road games vs. 14 home games, a five game West trip right out of the break, then a road trip through San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and New Orleans in March, then they play five out of their final seven on the road.
Hollingers rankings are out. Boston is #1. Lakers and Rockets are top 5, losing teams are in the top 15- so SOS is still very important.
He was more arguing for the fixed easier beginning schedule for the Celtics to get more people interested in Boston and the Celtics (casual fans especially). I kept telling him that yeah they are hot and everyone wants to watch them, but if they start blowing up and losing, will the casual fan still be watching? No, it's going to be the die hard celtic fans and avid NBA watchers
Actually, your friend might be on to something: Who knows. Since no one knows what the schedule originally looked like (?), it's not out of the realm of possibility that they did give Boston a soft schedule early on. The key word in the bolded quote above is "mainly." Seems to me like it implies that they might have used that wiggle room to tweak the schedule to showcase the new look Celtics.
The Celts will suck once the big three go down with injuries. Imagine a starting lineup of Rajon Rondo, Tony Allen, James Posey, Scot Pollard, and Kendrick Perkins. Dynasty!!!
If Ray Allen is the only one who goes down, they will still be good. If KG or PP gets hurt, they are dead meat.
Ok, they almost lost the streak today...would of made my thread here look a bit silly. Now the next big test - @ Orlando who are on fire. Dwight and KG should be awesome. if the C's get past the Magic I see them seriously going onto 27-0.
Orlando's playing well, Cleveland (twice) and Lakers are always threats with Kobe/Lebron, GS will score a crapton of points on anyone, and Chicago (twice) can certainly get their act together by the time these 2 face off. I think they'll lose a game this month
That lucky shot by House has the Celts down only 7 after 3 quarters. Judging by this game, the Celts could get spanked pretty bad when they go West. This game shows the holes in their team. Dwight Howard is just overwhelming them. The boxscore shows 23 PFs on the Celts so far and it seems like 20 of them have been committed on Howard, who is sapping their defensive energy.
