I don't think his job on the Celtics has much to do with personnel, that seems to be all Danny Ainge.

Wow, I just realize I can be a Rockets GM too, potentially. :D

He's a business guy first, which is what Les wants.

He sounds like Mark Cuban with his obsession with stats.

I have a feeling that JVG will run the show on what players get brought in for now. Morey will act as a source of information until he gets more experience, and he'll have more influence as he proves himself in the future.

Oh, and I guess we are not getting our own Joe Dumar of the world. Rockets better put major effort in the scouting department. Otherwise, I don't know how much this guy's stats knowledge can translate into wins.

Who says anything about wins? It's about ticket sales. Or maybe he can magically make Rockets go under salary cap. ;)

The new guy is too green. I guess he will be kind of an intern for now.

LOL. For every move Morey makes as a GM I'm going to whip out a Sondheim line. And that dude's vicious. :D

I thought CD would go and said that here back in November. But I'm glad he's staying through next year because I do believe it's time for as much upheaval as we can muster and I don't think CD had the stomach for it anymore, but him shepherding a new GM in makes perfect sense.

That's old news that came out last week via ESPN.com. Kiki Vandweghe has also been mentioned as a candidate, but nothing is concrete.

CD also told us over at Channel 2 last week that IF he does step down, it won't been until the end of next season.

    Les,

According to my analysis Chris Kaman is one of the best players in the NBA. Kaman's high FG%, Rebounding, low turnover rate, and solid free throw percentage is what you need to win in this league. So my first order of business will be to trade Tmac for Kaman.

    Sincerely,

    Daryl Morey

well i was hoping for a big name with a good reputation. i know JVG is making all the calls but CD had a nack for getting other teams to agree on a trade.

a new GM might get the rookie treatment for a while. i don't want this guy getting taken advantage of for the next couple of years while we're trying to win before tmac breaks down for good.

very risky move on less' part. is this really the best guy available?

Yeah slick talking veteran GM's like Isiah Thomas, John Weisbrod, Scott Layden, Elgin Baylor & Glen Grunwald might bamboozle him.
