The players you suggested are only marginally better than the ones the Dawson signed, with the exception of Eddie Griffin, who probably didn't want to have anything to do with the Rockets organization. I can't say he had many options.

Thank you.........I don't know why CD continues to get a free pass by so many. We have made the playoffs 1 time in the last 6 years and everybody still acts like he is the God of GMs. If it was anybody but Les (who imo is a very loyal owner to his people) CD would have already been fired. If your a GM on most Pro Sports teams you don't get half a decade of losing and still have a free pass. He and JVG need to go.
I will say that CD has done a great job at getting big name guys here to help our team. Where he lacks is choosing the right personel to help these players do well on our team. When it comes to getting the right role players or giving the money to the right players he hasn't done that well at all. He might be able to bring the big names here but hasn't surrounded them with the right talent.
The players I suggested would have made the Rockets more atheletic team. FYI , it was the Rockets that didn't want to have anything to do with Griffin. Bad mistake, he should have got another chance to prove himself.
Last year people on this forum were begging, begging to replace Francis with a "true point guard" like Ward, in fact, specifically Ward. I wish I had search.
