The article should have explained in greater detail just what those supposedly "air-tight" procedures were because it looks REALLY suspicious when a team under league control just happens to win the No. 1 draft pick. Perception is something Stern can't joke away. To me, the article sidestepped the issue in question.

To be fair... the lottery system being rigged is less likely than the reffing theory.

click the link, see the video. I haven't done that yet, but I'm guessing it's in the video and the article is just a teaser.

Oh, I don't think think the lotto is rigged at all because each team has a representative in the room when the ping-pong balls are chosen. But you have to admit that by not being more specific and making old Brinks Robbery jokes, Stern did nothing to address the doubts out there. Nor do I believe there's any reffing conspiracy - it's just dog-butt awful all around. It's been that way for at least 10 years now.

Surprised they didn't talk about the overexpansion of the league that, IMO< has led to most of the current problems the league faces (parity, small markets, conspiracies)

It definitely wouldn't hurt to drop the ping pong balls live in front of the cameras... And he did change the course of our franchise by the infamous vetoe.... Sucks but hindsight assuming we would've signed Nene after the Pau deal would've been a bad free agent signing... and we would have the aging Pau on a huge two years left......

glass half full.... still think it was wrong

Didn't want to start a new thread(move if necessary, thanks) but from the Board of Governors meeting:

    Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
[rquoter]**Instant replay will be used now on all flagrant foul calls, Stern says. Referees will be able to look at replay before determining degree.

**During last two minutes of regulation or overtime, replay will be used to review restricted area calls and goaltending callls, Stern said.

**Flopping and away-from-the-ball fouls were discussed and referred to the competition committee for more discussion at the September meeting.

**Adam Silver says it's "likely" some sort of plan for jersey advertisements would be implemented next season.

**The current idea, which Silver said needs more discussion, is to have a 2-by-2 advertisement patch on the shoulder of jerseys.

**Stern says he has not staked out a position on the 23-and-under proposal for the Olympics.

**Silver says guidelines on jersey ads would be in effect for next season, but the ads wouldn't appear on jerseys until the following season.

**Silver says his sense is that every team is in favor of jersey ads in some form.

**Stern: "We had a very happy group of owners in that room." Best year ever in gate and sponsorship projected for next season.

**Silver says it's very difficult to project, but believes teams could generate $100 million per year through jersey ads.

**Stern says new CBA means teams will be judged by "M" word -- "management, not market and not money."

**Stern says revenue sharing system is expected to make 25 of 30 teams profitable.[/rquoter]
