Didn't Doc Rocket just say that we're not getting anyone from Los Angeles? Hmm...maybe this writer IS Doc Rocket.

I hear ya. I could never stop being a Rockets fan...but there have been times that my favorite teams have had players I've found it hard to root for. Pau would absolutely fall in that category for me. And I have a difficult time understanding the desire to bring him in given where this franchise is and where he is in his career at this point.

After reading that story about him befriending a kid that needed heart surgery and knowing that he's a smart guy that considered medical school over basketball, I can't hate on him too much. It would be a weird direction, sure, but I'd root for him as I would anyone who puts on that jersey.

For those wondering, no, the Rockets are no longer pursuing LA's Pau Gasol. They were looking to pair him with Nene. But no longer . . .

There has been speculation that the Rockets may be trying to use the picks to land Lakers big man Pau Gasol. The Rockets pursued him in December and thought they had a deal for Gasol as part of the larger Chris Paul deal to the Lakers that the NBA scuttled. However, a league source told ESPN.com that the Rockets are no longer pursuing Gasol. ESPN.com

Hoping we'll be moving up and looking to pick for ourselves under the assumption the Howard rental is dead.

My ideal draft night would have us landing the #2 and #5, and nabbing Beal along with Drummond. That's a young core we could easily build around, and at the very least would give the franchise some much needed direction.

I'm almost that way with Dwight, the way he acted last year as well as from what others say about him not wanting to play for Houston. I really don't want to have to root for the guy.

Someone on twitter said that the rockets traded Lowry and 16 and got 7 and 29

I love his game. It's that simple. Beyond that, he's a young first team All NBA player. He acts like a kid, the way most of these guys do. Dumb decisions. But I can understand completely a franchise wanting to hitch their wagon to his abilities.

I'm not a Pau fan, but I'm particularly not a Pau fan for where our franchise is right now at the price Pau comes with.

The Bulls have pick #29. The Warriors do have #7 and #30 though.

The Paul deal was sweeter because it would have also yielded Nene. Now that it doesn't, Morey isn't interested.

I understand the sequence of events for what's going on but the thread title is hilarious.

that doesn't make me feel any better given Nene's monster contract too.

I never really understood that because Nene isn't very good.
