That clippers team looked nasty last night.. with pg13 waiting to get back. That’s the team to beat. They are far better than the rockets imo. For those who say y’all aren’t afraid of the clips. Y’all should be.

are we sure that the Rockets still have scouts?
    Maybe they also got fired,
so MDA has noone to tell him that Brook Lopez was actually a post game specialist for the first 10 years of his carreer.

I think there is a difference between running the same set and the same play. The same play would have been pass to lopez and he turns around and shoots a jumper.
the same set is them initiating offense through brooks, where he has the opp to read the defense (single or double) and either shoot or pass or try to look off the double and go one on one

I agree. I believe they are too. They are definitely a problem and its going to be very difficult for teams to match up with them. that team is deep on both sides of the ball. I thought not having a true pg would be something that would be a pretty big issue but the way they play as a team with movement, they don't need one. they have multiple guys that can bring the ball down. hell they even had trez bring the ball up last night o_O

Technically he's right. Just like Gordon is one of the Rockets' best outside shooters. But last night, EG was 4-19 from the floor and clearly didn't have it going offensively. This is where the coach is supposed to step in and make an adjustment.

If we just wanted someone to roll the basketball onto the court and sit back and do nothing, we could've kept McFail around.

I agree but then again those shots EG were taking weren't bad shots. they were open. EG is going to let those fly, its what hes here for and he isn't gun shy which is what alot of cf's calls for.

    I guess.

I mean they made their open shots. The Rockets didn't. If EGo has just a regular shooting night the Rockets win by 10.

There are WAY more positives to take from last night than negatives. Russ and Harden are much more frightening than Harden and CP3.

EG's shots were wide open and in the flow of the offense, but clearly he was off. At some point, you need to either call another play or put in someone who can make an open jumper. I respect trusting your best players, but it can blow up in your face too(see Pat Riley allowing John Starks to go 2-18 in Game 7 instead of giving Hubert Davis a shot).

I mean Eric Gordon is pretty money in the POs, every shooter has on off night. Having confidence in your guys isn’t about one game it’s about multiple games.

my guess is other than shots not falling, the Rockets wouldn't change a thing about how this game was played

If this is correct, and I believe it is, it shows how the Rockets aren’t real contenders

my guess is if those open looks went in at the expected rate, the Rockets would be (rightfully) very happy with the margin of victory

Funny thing was he thought he could ride Harden to a title just like he wanted with Nash.

Guess he doesn’t blame himself enough.

We all know Harden is the Rockets best post defender. I wonder if Harden is guarding BroLo in the post we win that game. Harden had 5 fouls so I bet that was the reason he didn't guard Lopez in the post.

There is something here because PJ is probably fine against most centers. Centers today are more agile, in the 90s they were these giants with huge shoulders, try putting PJ on Shaq, Ewing, or Hakeem and the result would be actual murder. Could someone picture in the 90s a SF at any time guarding a center? Robinson? Mourning? Smits?

Having a decent low post game was necessary then but nowadays well, outside of a few players, like 5 or 6, a low post game for a center is just rare, so a guy with low base strength (Like Tucker or Harden) all they have to do is push back and the shot is difficult for most centers because they just don't have a low post game. Teams want them to be agile, run the floor, get blocks, and if you want to score catch the ball near the rim or learn to shoot.

So yeah, we get away with this most nights...
