Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is promising changes to his troubled team on his Twitter account. Gilbert, who famously used social media to criticize LeBron James in a letter to Cleveland fans when the superstar left for Miami last summer, sent several tweets on his cavsdan account shortly before the Cavs tried to stop a 14-game losing streak Friday night against Milwaukee. Gilbert thanked the team's most loyal fans for their support and said "NOTHING will deter our mission to deliver to you the goods." Gilbert said he has learned patience and indicated he will make moves to improve his team. "You don't panic when things get tough," he wrote. "You think. You examine. You calculate. THEN you strike. And we will strike." Gilbert has kept a low profile most of the season. http://www.nba.com/2011/news/01/21/gilbert-tweets.ap/index.html Does this guy seriously think the Cavs are gunna succeeed any time soon!!!???!!???
The Cavs missed a golden chance last night. Next week, they have two good opportunities at a win, especially if Melo gets traded.
How in the hell is this newsworthy? What is he supposed to say? Hey fans I plan on doing nothing to improve this team in fact guys I plan on making us worse.
I think you missed to see the point of his tweet. He doesn't think they're going to be succesful anytime soon. That's why he's telling fans they're going to think before acting. In other words, it'll take some time.
They don't want to win. they want to tank and get a high draft pick in next year's draft. Considering all they got were washed up vets or overpaid role players that's basically the only option left to them. If I were them I'd trade Jamison, Mo Williams and Varejao to other teams to speed up the rebuilding process.
Its just fluff man, anybody can say "we're gonna get better" on twitter. Anyway DM's been one of the more talkative GMs the past couple of years, it'd probably be better if he stops being so open to everyone.
Yes they do. Even if you believe they have started tanking, NO team wants a 16-game losing streak on their record. The Cavs are an embarrassment to the NBA and they know it. The players know it and so does Byron Scott. The losing streak is like a giant weight on their shoulders. Win or lose, you better believe they will bring it against the Nets Monday night. The Cavs don't want to look like complete chumps since LeBron left, but they can't help themselves. It's so bad that Gilbert has already said ticket prices will be lower next season. BTW, Varejao is out for the season already and Mo Williams is expected to be out a couple of more weeks. Jamison is virtually untradeable because of his contract next year ($13MM). Probably none of those 3 is going anywhere.
He is the owner of a business with a clientele. What else is he gonna tell the Cavalier's fandom? Sorry, but we suck and we are resigned to suck forever? You let them know that you understand what is going on and then you give them hope, at least something even if it far in the the future or unrealistic. He is saying exactly what is supposed to say. Whether they are empty promises is not the issue. He is telling to them during their nadir saying to not lose faith, and that is what they need to hear.
