Huge downgrade for the cavs. Thomas is not a starter, he's better suited coming off the bench.

Great deal for Boston if it goes through. Getting a younger player in Kyrie, who I do feel is better than IT is an awesome package. I think Cleveland does okay, not a great deal for them unless they are receiving the Brooklyn pick.

Well one of them is like 4 years younger and 6 inches taller. I'd rather have that guy.

    Shams:

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics are engaged in serious trade discussions centered on swapping All-Star guards Kyrie Irving and Isaiah Thomas, league sources told The Vertical.

The teams are still working on the framework of a deal, and Jae Crowder has been included in the discussions, league sources said.

Irving requested a trade July 21 after meeting with the Cavs, and his status has been a constant storyline this offseason.

Thomas, a two-time All-Star, is coming off his best season for Boston, averaging 28.9 points and 5.9 assists. His season ended because of a hip injury during the Celtics’ loss to the Cavs in the Eastern Conference finals.

Irving averaged 25.2 points and 5.8 assists for the Cavs, who lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. The four-time All-Star helped the Cavs win an NBA championship in 2016 and was the 2011-12 NBA Rookie of the Year.

This, but I think Boston gets the slight upgrade.

The only thing I can see for Boston doing this is not wanting to pay or believe IT is worth mega max money? How many years left on Kyries "affordable" max?

I think this is a win-win for both. Cavs have a one-year window of contention with Lebron likely moving soon. Getting Crowder and Thomas, I think they're just as good if not even better than they were last year. If they can also pull away draft picks it'll help with their rebuild after Lebron leaves. The Celtics extend their window by getting a taller younger star back.

yeah, he definitely didn't pay attention at all to what IT did last season

IT has been a legit All-Star level player for 2 years now, and last season he was ridiculously good

Majority of teams have a good point guard that's better than Thomas.

He's short and a liability on defense. He's not worth the max. He would make a good 6th man coming off the bench on a championship contender.

Fine, we'll give Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, Isaiah Thomas & non-Nets picks I guess. Have fun paying IT max money on your 30-win team when/if LeBron leaves. LOL That team is stacked with assets.

G: Kyrie Irving | Terry Rozier | Shane Larkin
G: Jaylen Brown | Marcus Smart | Kadeem Allen | Jabari Bird
F: Gordon Hayward | Jayson Tatum | Abdel Nader
F: Marcus Morris | Guerschon Yabusele | Semi Ojeleye
C: Al Horford | Aron Baynes | Daniel Theis

G: Isaiah Thomas | Derrick Rose | Jose Calderon | Kay Felder
    G: J.R. Smith | Kyle Korver | Iman Shumpert
F: LeBron James | Jae Crowder | Richard Jefferson | Cedi Osman
F: Kevin Love | Jeff Green
C: Tristan Thompson | Channing Frye | Ante Zizic | Edy Tavares
