So are we over or under the cap? I assume we are under since Lin and Asik dropped us $16M and Ariza took $8M but who knows.
Both teams. Wizards get a trade exception. We stay above the cap preserving our MLE and other roster exceptions.
So does this mean we are now going to sign Papanikolau (or however you spell it)? Our quota of tall white dudes who chuck from long range is getting dangerously low. Only Donuts left, and he hardly counts.
Really? He was traded from Cleveland to New Orleans to Houston. He was in high demand. Odds are we won't keep him either.
I am not a Casspi fan but statistically Casspi has better numbers across the board than Gee no matter which database you choose. In 2013-2014, Casspi had better PPG, FG%, eFG%, TS%, 3ptFG%, and RPG; also had better DRPM (his +0.33 ranks 30th among the 76 SFs in the league whereas Gee's DRPM of -1.96 ranked 69th among the 76 SFs in the league). Casspi also owns better ORPM, RPM, WAR, and WS than Gee. I know many fans are skeptical of stats but if one player has better stast across the board than the other, then I have to conclude that Casspi is a better player than Gee. I don't see how replacing Casspi with Gee helps our bench at all. I would be surprised if Gee stays on the roster. In my opinion, he is a defensive sieve and a mediocre 3 pt shooter. I know the Pelicans are in desperate need of a SF and Casspi helps them with that (Casspi also played with Tyreke before), but, I don't see how Gee helps us much. Something else. The tweet has to be incomplete. There's no way the Pelicans could have absorbed Asik's $8.3M contract by sending out only $4.3M ($3M (Gee) and $1.3M (Ely). Something is missing.
