I know the USC coaches would've had Jason Babbin on that field - for sure.

I find it funny that Casserly said THIS MORNING that they would NOT pay $9 mil for a part-time back.
BUT...they WOULD have drafted Bush if Williams was not in the equation!

    SO...you WOULD have paid $9mil for a part-time back???

This guy flip-flops more than the House of Pancakes!!

Caserly trying to discredit Reggie as a football player to validate their decision is laughable. Fine if you think Mario is better for our team, but the fact that he's talking bad about Bush just makes them sound even more unsure of the decision.

yeah..that's stupid. very, very bad. this franchise needs some lessons in public relations. or they need to stop trotting out this GM to be the face of the team. because it doesn't come off good at all. he looked foolish last night..and he sounded foolish this morning. he sounds very defensive, and it's making him look like he made a mistake, even if he didn't.

Either that or the negotiations with Bush and his agent did not end well and he's still pissed off about it.

Either way, we don't have to worry about Charlie for very much longer.

I don't think that was what he meant.

Wrong choice of words - IMO.

    Water under the bridge.

LOL.. most of the people pissed at CC for his comments were doing the same in the VY/Bush debate thread. I don't think it's professional to talk bad about a player you didn't pick -- but I understand it to the point that every question he'll get asked is gonna be, "Why didn't you draft Reggie?" All this #1 pick hype has brought out people who don't know much about our team, just like watching ESPN highlights. Go Super Mario!

    I doubt they even cared.

Bush sounded kinda nervous. That's all. no big whoop.

Completely agree. This AM Casserly said that they offered the same total $$ amount to both Williams AND Bush. He then added that the only difference was the amount of "guaranteed" dollars, but with either player you expect them to make the goals to make max dollars.

I really think he blundered leaking this info out (certainly won't be appreciated in NOLA), and I suspect that once he said he really wished he hadn't. Worse, I really don't think it was true... I suspect Bush's people expected a bigger offer than Williams...

I posted this on the Texans message board, it was in response to the interview CC gave on 610 this morning when a caller asked about Bush on Conan.

They way CC answered the question struck me as funny. CC said his daughter called him and told him about what Bush said on Conan. It sounded like CC was about to comment on this, then he paused.... and then said, "we picked Williams because he'll come in and work hard and get ready to play football."

Since he didn't say flat out that it had no effect on his decision it makes me think it did. My guess is the Texans didn't like the way Bush came off in his interview, and didn't like the USC problems that were popping up.

and that would go hand in hand with some of the reports that said the Texans found Bush to be arrogant when he was here in town....hmmmm..

ima -- that's exactly what i was thinking when i posted that! :)
