yea . . .. BOOBIiak How much SPARK did it give us??? Kubiak wanted HIS GUY to succeed . . .. and it got him fired He seemed to do more the put a leash on Case than anything after the first game Rocket River
It makes sense that almost half of people voted for Keenum, of the guys on the roster, he has the most upside for THIS season. We should all hope that he improves enough to win the job from Fitz because it would put us in the best spot to win immediately. That said, I'm not sure that it's likely though.
Conversely, the poll should also have an option for "I went to a Texas college other than UH. I'm a big COOG hater and I don't want Keenum to start next year." No lie.
The team was in tank mode and nobody should put that 0-8 on him like that. Dude was not playing defense and he was calling those piss pour plays.
we'll just wait and see if everyone gets a chance. Save your energy for bickering later in the season
LOL at all the people touting how unlikely it is for a 4th round pick QB to turn into anything viable... but now we're "expecting" that from an undrafted FA? Keenum did exactly what most people expected he'd do last year. Had some spectacular moments, and some completely brain-dead ones. Made some great throws, and then failed to recognize any sort of defense. In the end, he's still an UDFA who got more of a shot than he likely deserved. BOB will give him a chance to make the team... but he's going to have to impress the hell out of him.
And the scenario where he does "impress the hell out of him" is pretty much the best case scenario for the Texans going forward, so it's what we should all hope for. He exceeded all realistic expectations given the fact that he was an undrafted FA QB playing with no running game, a criminally awful O line and with a generally disgruntled team. If he improves as much this offseason as he did last offseason, he's got a legitimate shot at the starting job.....not that it would be easy.
At this point, as a fan of Case, it will be a victory to make the team. Case is a smart kid, son of a coach, student of the game, tireless worker, and incredibly charismatic. All those intangible things aside, Case does have some skills that play well in an O'Brien offense. He is a rhythm passer with probably the most accurate arm on the team. He is very nimble and can extend plays. Where he needs to improve is in experience. He can't read defenses and is easily baited into bad situations and dangerous throws. This is exacerbated by his lack of arm strength, as a bad throw turns into a horrible throw when it floats. These things can only be fixed with time and snaps. If he hangs around long enough, he will get an opportunity to start for BOB, because Fitzpatrick is anything but consistent and Savage, despite his tools, is very green (only something like 20 starts in college). First things first, though. Gotta knock TJ off the roster.
Wouldn't it have been prudent for Seattle to call Houston after the Vikings made their offer and give them a chance to counter? After all, Houston would have had to assume the Vikings were doing it to get a QB. If Houston really, really wanted Bridgewater, do you think they wouldn't have swapped their 4th round pick for him? In that scenario, Seattle is guaranteed to get the player they want since they would get the 33rd pick instead of 40th (Vikings pick) and also the first pick in the 4th round as opposed to the Vikings pick. If Seattle didn't make that call to Houston, their GM should be reprimanded.
I think that IF somehow Keenum wins the starting job and wins 7+ games, it will be awful for the team. It will likely result in the Texans committing themselves to Keenum for at least the next 2 seasons, resulting in a lot of setbacks during that time. The Texans just need to somehow pull a quality starter from somewhere in the next year, but I do not think that player is currently on the team.
Nobody connected to the Texans organization believes they liked Bridgewater. Several connected people have been incredibly definitive, and were BEFORE THE DRAFT, that the Texans had ZERO interest in Bridgewater. I believe the only QB they truly got scooped on was Garoppolo by New England. I think the Texans would have taken him at the top of round 3.
