I agree that Keenum had the shortest leash. They kept trying to make something happen with Fitz, and then threw Savage in just to get a glimpse when it was clear that we weren't getting any time of possession whatsoever. Still - there's an entire mob on Facebook & Chron.com who are convinced that "Keenum" is the answer to every question about how to improve the Texans. OOOOOK then.
But he also said after the game that the QB depth chart could be subjected to change also. Keenum will have to really shine in the preseason for him to get the starter position. He has supposedly looked horrible in training camp.
i've heard fritz throws ints against our depleted cornerbacks in practice too. what i've heard about keenum from the hottie's updates is that he is still making the same mistakes when it comes to blitzes in training camp. But versus the cardinals 2 blitzes came his way. 1, he side stepped and made a completion on a dump off to the rb for 5 yards. 2nd blitz, he threw it to blue and almost got him decapitated. but he did get rid of the ball. on the drop by griffin, there was pressure but not a dialed up blitz. savage, like rookies with a struggling line and rbs that don't pick up blitzes, froze. for ryan, there are no excuses. simplified playbook or not, he should be able to connect with the TEs with ease. Those passes were not miscommunication issues just poor qb play. we can't have more turnovers than turnovers created.
Well it's 2 things really, 1. His "just winz" was really lacking last season, as we know football is a one on one game played between QB's, and he just didn't win. 2. He went to UH.
Don't you think it's a bit early to put that label on him? Should we say the same about Savage now after his first performance?
In all honesty . . . . I cannot say I am so much PRO Case as my opinion of Fitz has been colored by friends. A friend of mine is a HUGE Buffalo Bills fan and he absolutely hates Fitz thinks he is the worse QB in the league . . .. From what I have seen of Fitz [not just saturday] I don't see much special about him . . . nothing that makes him heads and shoulders about a Savage or Case In Case's case. . .. his only major advantage is physical stature I tire of people winning the job because they 'look the part' or 'got the contract' Rocket River I never thought there would be any real competition . .. . so this is all unsurprising
Sure maybe case gets better. But just throwing him out there and hoping doesn't make sense. He needs to develop in practice
When the alternative is Fitz, it makes perfect sense. Also, his blitz recognition was a lot better in his limited snaps the first preseason game.
Two things. 1. No, I'm predicting that Manziel will bust, not saying he's "already" a bust 2. An undrafted player can't bust.
