The fact that many of his constituents are invested in NASA in some way means that he will allow its continued funding. He'll just cut welfare to do it.

First time I have listened to the guy for more than a sound bite trying to shut down the government or rant about Obamacare.

The corporate/ billionaire agenda to the max.

Wants to tax billionaires and minimum wage workers at the same rate --the flat tax. This was his first point.

A lot of talk about abolishing the IRS and getting rid of regulators. Disguised the heavy billionaire corporate money this shills for and a good tactic to attract big money to his campaign, employing the usual tallking about small business and the little guy as his motivation.

Really hates Latino immigrants and wants to send lots more folks to patrol the border yet a shout out to his father who came from Cuba. Got to wonder if he tones this down a bit in Texas.

Tries to blame virtually everything on Obamacare including lack of jobs for young folks and "massive transfer of wealth from healthy young folks to older folks".. Not a word about student loans which should get him some contributions from the banks and the for profit chef schools etc.

Greatly concerned about the federal government trying to keep Hobby Lobby from doing its thing. A whole five minutes about how Obama hates Israel.

Overall interesting to see Cruz performing among the faithful followers. You could see from his style that he has spent a lot of time around southern preachers.

flat tax on discretionary income, so minimum wage wouldn't be touched

regulatory/tax compliance is far easier at scale and creates barriers to entry for smaller competitors

His father came from Cuba legally.

Cruz once again b****slapped by his own party.

GOP senators block Ted Cruz move to hold up Loretta Lynch vote

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s strategy of blocking a vote on President Barack Obama’s attorney general nominee until the White House relents on immigration executive actions ran into a brick wall Wednesday: his own GOP colleagues.

Republican senators dismissed Cruz’s proposal for denying Loretta Lynch a confirmation vote in the Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor as part of the Texas firebrand’s strategy to use “every procedural tool” at the Senate’s disposal to override Obama’s actions, which could affect nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants.

Apparently not to the people who elect our politicians because all of our representatives are whackjobs. You can't even sniff election in Texas unless you are a whackjob. But for some righteous retribution, start at the 4 minute mark (it's beautiful):

It's Been A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week For Ted Cruz

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz is having a rough week.

The Texas firebrand and potential presidential candidate had two wishes for his Republican colleagues: Stand firm against funding the Department of Homeland Security without immigration restrictions, and reject the nomination of Loretta Lynch to be the next U.S. attorney general, whom he lambasted as a "rubber stamp" for President Barack Obama's "lawlessness."

    Both gambits are failing.

On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) cut a deal with Democrats to fund DHS without the immigration restrictions. Although Cruz quickly decried it as a "mistake," the first stage of the plan easily cleared the Senate the following day, and the bill is on track to pass the chamber.

Then on Thursday, the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee approved the Lynch nomination, sending it to the full Senate for final confirmation. The vote was 12-8, winning Republican Sens. Orrin Hatch (UT), Jeff Flake (AZ) and Lindsey Graham (SC).

Just a day earlier, Cruz suggested that senators who support Lynch would be abdicating their oath of office.

"Anyone concerned about the Bill of Rights, anyone concerned about individual liberty, should be deeply concerned about an attorney general who has told the Senate she will be a rubber stamp for the most aggressive assertions of executive power in history," Cruz told reporters in the Capitol. "I do not believe it is consistent with the responsibilities of a United States senator to honor our oaths to vote to confirm a nominee for attorney general who has flat-out told us she will disregard the law, she will disregard the Constitution."

Cruz reportedly indicated on Wednesday that he wouldn't attempt to stall or delay the DHS bill, suggesting that it would pass and that there was nothing to gain by delaying the inevitable. He recently argued that Republican leaders surrendered critical leverage in the immigration fight in December by funding most of the federal government and refusing to halt the confirmation of nominees to aid the push against Obama's actions.

On Thursday, Cruz took a break from Capitol Hill to attend CPAC, an annual conference of conservatives taking place near Washington, where he is treated as a hero.

    Do they celebrate losers?
