    I agree, but the most a team can receive is $3mil.

    According to Larry Coon's FAQ, the limit on cash that can be included in a trade package is $3M. It doesn't say that a team cannot receive more than $3M in cash in a series of trades.

    For instance, using the proposed three-team trade, say that Trade #1 is the proposed trade, only with Eddy Curry going to Denver and $3M cash going from New York to Minnesota. Then, in Trade #2, Eddy Curry and another $3M cash go from Denver to Minnesota.

    I'd be curious to know whether this arrangement would be against the salary cap rules. I don't see any reason why this is a "valid loophole" in the cash limitation rule.

    [rquoter]CBA, Article VII, Section 8(a):

    A Team shall not be permitted to receive in connection with any trade, directly or indirectly, more than $3 million in cash or other compensation, including cash or other compensation received as reimbursement for Compensation obligations to players who the Team is acquiring. [/rquoter]

    Or straight from the horse's mouth:

    [rquoter]Rule only prevents teams from RECEIVING more than $3M in same deal (directly or indirectly). RT @johnschuhmann: Don't think so. Right, @LarryCoon? RT @Ronnie131: Can team send $3million to 2 teams in the same deal?

    That's one of those indirect means. RT @NetsDaily: @johnschuhmann @Ronnie131 Suppose the deal is two simultaneous trades?[/rquoter]

    NY's and Denver's motivation and interest in Curry to Minny is to help Denver save luxury tax money. If they can dump that Curry's contract on Minny, that is almost $10 million in luxury tax and another $3 million or so in salary that Denver can save. Knicks are trying to figure out some way to help Denver with savings without going through Houston. Funny.

    Minny could get $3 million for trading for Curry for nothing from the New York Knicks. In a separate deal, they could get another $3 million from Denver for trading Brewer to Denver.

    Can't see Denver giving them $3 mill to get Brewer though. If Denver does this type of deal, it is to get under the luxury tax and save money.

    Yao's contract is looking better and better every day.

    It's understandable. Too many rules and details to know all of the answers. Unless you're going to look up every detail before posting then you're occassionally going to be wrong. The CBA is written in "legalese" and isn't fun to read so unless you're specifically looking for something it's a tough read.

    Bima does a good job of supplying answers in a timely manner so an occassional misstep is ok.

    Bleacher report is speculating that Dallas will make a play for Anthony. That would suck.

    I just want Melo to leave DEN so that DEN can drop out of the playoff race and we can squeeze in. No way we can catch POR.
