Problem is Chicago doesn't have max cap room even after they amnestied Boozer.

If they amnesty Boozer and trade both Gibson and Dunleavy, that opens up enough space.

Gibson is the main potential hangup, but there should be a market for him.

I'm sure they are. Man, I wish I was in New York right now to hear the reactions. Everything's a big deal to Knicks fans, so they must be flipping.

I think Melo stays though; he'd miss a lot of money and he basically gets to play front office in NY if he wants to. The key player is Dolan, if he thinks Melo's leaving than expect him to be traded (although given the Knicks' hubris with regards to the Lebron signing, they're probably confident he stays).

Surprised we haven't heard more about Melo's camp pushing to get this trade done before the deadline. Its kind of a no-brainer IMO for Melo to target the Bulls.

All he's got to do is send word to Chicago that if they trade for him, he'll start talking extension ASAP as long as its a max deal.

Also, the Rockets can really be opportunistic here in getting involved to facilitate to snag a good player or two off of the Bulls (Dunleavy and Hinrich seem like good candidates).

I'm all for the East gaining some real contenders to challenge Miami and Indiana. It's a completely joke the way things are right now.

This just in, Melo's personal trainer has left the Knicks

Idan Ravin, the player developmental coach for the Knicks, as well as the personal trainer for Carmelo Anthony, has decided to leave the organization. According to sources, Ravin parted ways because of “philosophical differences.”

    From ESPN,

The Knicks hired Ravin earlier this season to work closely with players on shooting, fitness and general development. Prior to the Knicks, Ravin worked as a personal trainer to some of the top players in the NBA, including Anthony and Chris Paul. He also has worked extensively with Knicks guard J.R. Smith.

It is unclear if the Knicks will fill the vacancy, as his hiring was perceived as a perk for Anthony, who will test free agency this summer, and Smith, who re-signed with the Knicks over the summer.

Ravin’s decision to leave New York could have an impact on Carmelo Anthony’s future with the Knicks. It could be a factor when it comes to his free agency, which he announced will be testing the waters when the season is over.

So, if we hire his personal trainer, it's a done deal.

Melo will never play defense. However I do believe Thibs will find a way to hide melo on defense.

Carmelo Anthony is not going to the Bulls.

First the Knicks can offer one year and $30,000,000 more than any other team.

Second the Bulls do not have the capspace to sign Melo and he has shown no desire to take a discount to play in Chicago.

Third, even if the Bulls amnesty Boozer (which they would have to), their owner still has to pay Boozer and Melo, which would be $35,000,000 and he won't do that.

Fourth, the Bulls want to bring Mrotic over and that takes up a lot of the capspace they will have.

Melo in Chicago would be very interesting. Even if Rose can't stay healthy, Melo, Noah, Butler and some shooters look pretty good.

Playing with Derrick Rose entails Rose actually playing.

Well honestly having a good coach like Thibs might not have any effect, but it could also turn Melo into one of the best players in the NBA. Chicago would be a good fit for him because Thibs doesn't really do offense anyway, a selfish guy like him would fit right in because nobody on the Bulls team is a prolific scorer, even Rose doesn't take too many shots. Chicago can amnesty Boozer, Melo can play PF and take all the shots Boozer has been taking.

With that said, I think Melo's just trying to milk the hapless NYC org yet again trying to fish for that 5 Year max extension lol. Also Bulls owner is cheap and will never amnesty Boozer as he is a baseball fan first and has been milking the Chicago Bulls to fund his baseball team. Dude won't pay the lux tax even when they had a contender, he'll never eat Boozer's contract.
