If you're going to have him on the roster, there's no reason why he shouldn't be playing. This is still one of the better rotation players available right now.

One of the dumbest signings of the Morey era has somehow managed to get even dumber

I'd bring him back, the last two minutes of the first three quarters will be MeloTime

Unpopular question of the day: If both sides are willing, should Melo play, as of right now?

Definitely getting the never-in-a-million-years vibe from our end. I highly doubt we would reconsider.

This guy is getting paid 27 million dollars to workout and do whatever he wants. Why is this a thing? I’m incredulous as to the entitlement nba players have these days. There’s no reason he couldn’t leave his ego at the door, man up, and give us some minutes while our roster is depleted.

Why blame this on Melo? He signed a contract to play with the Knicks, and that contract was purchased first by the Thunder, then by the Hawks. If the Hawks decide they don't want him on their team even if they're paying his contract, how is that HIS fault? The contract was signed in good faith, but the Hawks are the ones who made the decision.

If Melo refused to play for a team and still collected his salary, that's one thing. In this case, the Hawks (and then the Rockets) chose to pay him NOT to play.

I'm not a big Melo fan, but there's no way you can lay the blame for this at his feet.

Oh I’m not blaming him entirely. I’m just saying if he wasn’t such a diva I’m sure MDA would have worked him into the rotation. By all accounts, Melo’d sh***y attitude seems to be the culprit

Actually, I never saw a single account that sad Melo had a bad attitude. Not one. It was simply a bad fit because his lack of defense was too easily exposed on this team. I don't know where you're getting the craziness from.

We know from the media that Melo has a bad attitude. He told the Knick’s FO to fire D’antoni, “hey P, they want me to come off the bench” in OKC, his champagne in the street pic after OKC bought him out, etc. I’m relying on circumstantial evidence here, but I don’t see how Melo wouldn’t find minutes over James Nunnally given his offensive prowess in spurts. To me it’s clear that he’s more than happy to just chill, no reports that he wants to contribute to the rockets in their time of need. Now did MDA completely axe Melo from the rotation on his own? Perhaps, but seems unlikely imo

What accounts? I was trying to follow for a while. MDA and Morey said the right things. BDZ came back (meaning 2 coaches who might as professional as they are still harbor some at least unconscious resentment.). Then, he is gone in 10 games. Seems like a very short adjustment period to give it a fair look.

I didn't see accounts of Melo going prima Donna onus but may have missed them.

Who knows but I have to believe a guy like Melo has pride and an ego and this may be one of the last ways he wants to go out.

Perhaps, I’ll admit I’m speculating but it seems odd that he wouldn’t be getting minutes with CP3 and Capela out (and Gordon’s tentative health situation). I can’t help but think there’s a personal chasm between him and Coach

    talk to Bzdelik...

I believe Bzdelik quit bc Melo got him fired in Denver... then DM had to kick Melo to the curb to get Bzdelik to return... imo...

    look at the timing...

there were no complaints about Melo not doing what was asked of him...

CP3 and harden both wanted him.... would they really kick him out after just 10 games (with Harden not playing in 3 of them)? Obviously there was something up... C'mon its not like he's McHale... ;) lol

The obsessive Infatuation with Melo was all Morey though, maybe Tilman had 10% share in that.

cause CP3 and harden weren't on board with bringing Melo in....?
That alone would buy him a couple months to get acclimated... unless... a deal had to be made... ;)

You are right, but owner and GM pull the trigger on that though.
