So my remote stopped working apparently as of this morning. I opened the car with the keys and now it wont start. Everything lights up, so electrical is fine but the car wont crank and the steering wheel is locked.. I think the car thinks its being stolen. Does anyone know how to fix this? The dealership isnt open. thanks!
Same with me. I got one of those automatic starters of a push of a button and one morning it just wouldn't start so I just waited. Hours later, it worked again, oddly enough??
Jiggle the cable, unplug it and then restart it. That or just remove the cartridge and blow on it, then put it back in the console.
Thanks can it be the battery if it still lights up? It is making a fast clicking noise as well. I have roadside assistance and they are on the way.
The immobilizer chip on the key doesn't need a battery. It is powered through induction. Even if all your panel dashboard lights up it can still be the battery. Lighting up the panel doesn't take a lot of current. Cranking a car up take a lot of current. That clicking sound probably means your battery doesn't have enough current to start the car.
I've heard for the longest that remote starters mess up your starter. This remote starter is built it or was added on?
Hyundai elantra limited 2012 At the dealership now Roadside assistance said I don't need a new battery but since I'll be driving out of town this week I decided to have them check it out. I don't wanna be stranded anywhere.
If it makes a fast clicking noise when you try to crank it, then it's telling you that the battery doesn't have enough juice to turn it over. That could be because the battery is simply dead, you left something on and the battery got drained, or the alternator isn't working which drained the battery.
