I'm guessing you didn't watch Ibaka much his rookie year either. I did quite a bit. Capela is VERY difficult and much less skilled.
All D-League games are broadcast live on YouTube. Replays are on demand. https://www.youtube.com/user/nbadleague IMO, this was a great move by the NBA.
I know they are different but Ibaka was pretty much just as raw. He had a little semblance of a jumper but his hands were awful and he looked lost offensively in general.
Definitely his hands were awful (as far as catching passes) and after his 2nd year I thought they were a lost cause. But he's been a decent jump-shooter from the beginning. His rookie year, their coach told him to not shoot them. Seriously. Ibaka had no clue about NBA offenses because he had no experience over here. He DID have some ability and instincts. There was a reason Ibaka never went to D-League, even on the Thunder who believe in that process more than any other team. Those highlights of Capela aren't all that impressive to me and don't show any offensive capability other than alley oops and putbacks. I've seen videos of Ibaka shooting 3-pointers 2-3 years before he was drafted. I'm not putting a ceiling on Capela. We don't know how much he can develop. But his starting point is miles lower than Ibaka's.
Did you seriously post that? No, because he's tall, lanky, quick, and a leaper, all qualities Ralph had before he was injured. It was an idle thought, but being a bit pissed that you tossed "tall and Black" into your post isn't idle at all. That was an ******* thing to say, with all due respect. Disagree with my opinion, sure, but don't throw that crap my way. Thanks in advance.
Watching the highlight videos...it's nice that he's an active player and can dunk so easily but I need something besides wide open dunks. Let's see him grow up some more.
I was just happy to see him not put the ball on the floor and go straight for the slam...seemingly no matter where he is. When you are that big and learning to play, if you can avoid dribbling and losing the ball, you can be an asset as a Defender and Garbage bucket big man. But, for anyone to say he's going to be a STUD or a DUD is way too early. He is a project. They knew it when they drafted him. He's a project with a few elite qualities and thats what you look for at 20 or wherever he was drafted. However much that Morey likes him though, he is surely still a trade chip and will be traded for the right player. He's building up some trade value in d-league, but don't expect us to dump him unless we are getting someone like Gogi in the trade.
That's cool. He used to coach under Adelman. Was one of the first big men to acquire a rep for really good passing and shooting.
That video showed me two things. The D League is a gathering of some terrible talent. CC has a long way to go before he's making any contribution to an NBA team...and it probably won't be with the rockets.
Interesting way to find those two points. I too can evaluate an entire leauge off an individual's highlight videos.

Hmmm ... nobody picked up Jack Sikma as asst coach when Adelman retired? Sikma is a good big-man coach. Hope we can keep him
On the contrary, I think if we ever rest Howard for extended games before the playoffs, we'll call up Capela to join the Rockets. Unless of course we trade him for a PG on the basis of his potential (I still think we keep him though. It's very hard to trade for a big man.)
I like that when Capela got an off rebound he kept the ball up high and immediately dropped it back in. Stayed on his tippy toes if u will. Defense has no time to react
Gobert was great last night protecting that rim. I feel that Capela can offer the same thing for us and he seems to be better offensively. Hoping he gets some playing time next year or sooner.
