i hate the whole were victims crap, but youll never understand the real prejudice until youve been cuffed and throw into a cop car at gunpoint for doing absolutely NOTHING. then the only explanation youre given is you fit the description of a recent crime..

but as others have said, that is a crap area, they set up there knowing they would find plenty of stuff to meet that quota..

 

So I'm helping my brother and his ex-wife move back to Austin from Sonoma, CA a few years ago. I'm driving his truck back (Ford Ranger with a camper top) and they're in her car. We split up in Las Cruces 'cause I wanted to go hit Carlsbad, White Sands, Cloudcroft, Marfa, Marathon, etc... on the way back.

There's a Border Patrol checkpoint in between Las Cruces & Almogordo, right smack dab in the middle of the White Sands Missile Range. I'm driving a camper truck with Cali plates, full of cardboard boxes, had a Longhorn hat on, shaggy beard, shaggy hair, so they ask me: "Where are you coming from?" Northern California. "Where are you going?" Austin, Texas. *DING DING DING*, the red flags are flying in their eyeballs. "Please pull over to the right."

They made me unload every box in the truck, had the dog walk around it all for about 10 minutes, and then said "You can go." I re-packed the truck and rolled on.

Moral of that story is, I would have f***ed with me too, if I were in their shoes. Never give them a reason.

 

You should have told them you were coming from none of your damn business. They have no authority to detain you unless they have reason to suspect you're not a citizen.

I am white and I don't wear my seatbelt with the mindset that cops are not the seatbelt police. No tinted windows either. Not gonna lie, they don't **** with ya when you're white. :grin:

Exact same thing happened to me. I had the new one in the car and showed it to him. I got searched and he accidentally kept my license, which I never got back. He threatened to take me to jail cause he found what looked like a seed. He finally let me go after a while but a pain. I was just getting my mom and I dinner. Oh and I am white!
