I see this all the time at S. Post Oak and Belfort.

Cops pull everyone over there. Black, white latino and aglo saxon. Here is the thing. If you have two cops and they have two people already pulled over how can they pull anyone else over? Some people get away.

Because there is no way cops could be looking for a suspect who is a minority.

So... if they're racist... and OP has nothing expired, everything is legal, he is not wanted by the law for something, has no warrants, is wearing his seatbelt, etc., he should not fear anything, should he?

I am Indian and have not been harassed by anyone when I am pulled over. They probabably want ot make sure no one messes with them when they need their taxes done or a prescription for Lipitor

....you mean like the stickers on your windshield that clearly show the date of expiration?

I've been pulled over, and received a ticket for expired inspection. I had forgot about it after being in Saudi for 3 months.

You gave them too much power by letting them search your car. There was no reason for you to give permission of the search, unless they could see something like a bong through the window.

And just why is it wrong for a police officer to slow you down?

My favorite example of this is at the downtown spur headed Northbound on 59.

Traffic slows to a crawl there, and cops, instead of focusing on helping stranded motorists or directing traffic flow, or even ticketing people who dangerously cut-over the doublewhite line at the last moment... they sit there, right on the damned highway, pulling people over (onto the shoulder, mind you, so still impeding traffic) and write them tickets for stickers/seatbelts.

    Way to go, HPD!

At DUI checkpoints, they pull you over and check (you) inside your car with no probable cause. In these cases, the cops oull you over by seeing a violation from outside your car. Much safer legal ground than DUI checkpoints. The primary benifit to the police is that you have to drive slowly in the U-turn, which gives the police additional time to look for violations. But the cops are just examining your car from outside, as they would when they drive past you on the road.

I saw a black constable doing the same thing today @ 610 & Post Oak. As a white guy I got popped for 'no seatbelt' at one of these a few months ago @ 59 & Cavelcade. It has nothing to do with race. The only color they see is green. If you still think otherwise, google 'confirmation bias'. Now if they claim to smell mar1juana and search your car, you might have a case ( unless of course you have actually been smoking weed in your car).

Oh yeah, I got pulled over for inspection recently on a trip at San Felipe at the train tracks. This car is 30+ years old and slightly modded, I laughed and was like bro, this isn't gonna pass ****. He laughed at me. No worries... if he wrote me a ticket for no front plate, then we might have had a problem.

I was once pulled over by a cop for making an illegal u-turn that was just parked on the side of the road. He came up to my car and asked me to roll down my window then said, "oh crap, I didn't realize you were a fellow caucasian." We both laughed and then gave each other a high five as he allowed me to go.

It wouldn't hold up in court since they passed the bills without noticing they screwed up on the license plate laws. I haven't had one in years and have never received a ticket for it even when it was illegal.
