The only problem I have with Les is his reluctance to pull an Astros. He has never let this team just flat out suck for a few years and build a real team through the draft. It would suck for those years but it's how you build a real championship contender in my opinion. If anything, Les has proven that this team will go above and beyond to get stars whether it be via trade or FA. And it's proven to not work. Just suck Les and build through the draft over multiple years.
Le$ is a fraud. Unfortunately he owns the team so he's not going to fire himself. We just have to wait for generational change with this guy.
Once again, Le$ proving why he is an annoying owner. I hope some of you are ready to finally admit it. "I liked the Suns ten years ago! Let's get D'Antoni!!"
I think criticizing Les as "cheap" is barking up the wrong tree. Les has lots of issues that are responsible for the Rockets' problems post-Hakeem. But cheap is not one. These are some beef I have with Les: 1. Star (even over the hill stars) chasing. Basically he values names more than substance. 2. Disrespectful to coaches. None of the past 4 head coaching jobs ended well. And it's all about Les. 3. His laugh.
What good has this man done for the Rockets as a team? Drexler trade, perhaps. Endorsing the drafting of Yao, though that was pure a $ gamble. Spending a money here and there, sure. For the rest, he's been absolutely horrible as an owner in giving the team a chance to be great. I'm not saying anything about him as a person, but purely as the HNIC.
We can criticize Les all we want, but he owns the team. Unless we each want to pony up some money (say ~$30,000 per Clutchfans member), not much we can do.
