i've seen way more than enough... harden avgs. 28 8 11... we go 69-13... harden wins mvp... Spoiler: Season Outcome we lose to cleveland in the finals
Last year, we had player only meetings in the middle of the season. This year, they seem to have taken care of that dueing the summer.
I would say now is a good time to go into a free for all panic. In case you forgot: Exhibit 1: Spoiler Exhibit 2: Spoiler Exhibit 3: Spoiler As you can see, things are looking bad. Only Exhibit 3 gives us a chance at winning it all.
Have not seen a single preseason game, but the highlights is more than enough i've seen. Dynasty in the making!!!
Defense wins Championships. Our top 3 players (Harden, Anderson, Gordon) defense is offensive and only 1 of them is a pure scorer in the likes of Durant, Curry and Thompson. Warriors got the title on lock down for the next 4 to 5 years straight as long as those 3 and Green are playing together and healthy. The Rockets will be more enjoyable to watch and that's it. No Championships in the near future, sorry to break it to you.
He tells you guys exactly what he is in his username, and you all still attempt to engage him with rational arguments.
This is a total myth, it's not even debatable anymore. Defense doesn't win championships, especially not since the rule changes which took place in the last decade. Moreover, the NBA doesn't want defenses to win championships and that's why it's better to be riding the wave that the referees and the league are pushing - which is to make offense easier. Equally important, we should know our strengths and not over stress defense to the point it's detrimental to our offense (typical of coaches like Thibs and JVG). Defense and offense wins championships. I won't get into the rest of your post. The points make sense, but they're based on a false premise.
You mean rules changes like the eradication of illegal defenses? It's completely the opposite to what you are saying. Why do you think offenses have moved out of the post: because sophisticated NBA defenses that we've never seen before have moved in. Donovan and OKC dismantslimg the vaunted 67 win SAS motion offense in 3 games by going big proves it. And then exposing how to beat thhe 73-win GSW by taking a 3-1 lead with small ball defense. Durant just didn't rise to the offensive call And GSW and SAS were the #1 and #2 defenses to boot You're not seeing how eradication of illegal defense created great defenses. To beat them you have to have 3 and D wings, quick buckets and motion. So the offensive adaptation that only a few teams can achieve doesn't make it an offensive era. It actually demonstrates how tough it is to beat these new sophisticated defenses I could go on and on about the beauty on these new defenses especially how they forced offenses to get more sophisticated to survive, yet still few can
(Sorry about the necro reply, just discovered the alert function) I agree with what you're saying here, but it doesn't really address the main point. You are showing examples of how a strong defense can be the tool to defeat elite teams, which is true. However, those teams are also excellent offensive teams. When you come up against another team that is elite at both, your edge in one or the other will matter of course as you described here. Defense is not as central to winning as it used to be. Offense is yielding better results than it used to. A look at the last 15 champions will show that. We know the statistic that's routinely thrown around, which is that you have to be in the top 10 offense and defense. There's no point focusing on just one or the other. It's not an offensive era. It's simply more a mix of offense and defense. Again, you're right that the defense got more complex and that made the offense get more creative and dynamic. But that doesn't mean a focus on defense is going to win you a championship. SAS, OKC and GSW are tremendous offensive teams. GSW is the most succesful of the trio overall in the last few years. Going big, that's something I'd love to see you analyze. I feel like teams are going so small these days there must be an opportunity for someone to heavily take advantage of size.
47-55 win team, 4-7 seed, out of the playoffs in the first or second round Back to the Tmac-Yao era treadmill, only now everyone is excited because last year's poor performance reset expectations.
I've seen enough to know the Rockets will have a successful year, I mean why are people arguing that because the Rox won't beat GSW they can't have a good year ahead? NOBODY can beat GSW unless they beat themselves, even Cleveland or SAS don't stand a chance because a healthy KD comes really close to neutralizing Lebron not to mention Curry, Klay Thompson, Iggy and Draymond Green that's like 5 legit all stars on your team along with killer subs headlined by Zaza Pachulia and Shaun Livingston and a pretty good coach. So your only real choice is to avoid NBA for a year or enjoy the season Rockets will have. The Rockets have time anyway, with Dwight gone our window for contension just increased by at least 5 years so enjoying the ride this year isn't so bad after the hot mess that was last year.
