CD should be calling West. I know were in the same division but we both have something the other needs. They have abundance of g/f's and we have an extra full sized center. Here is just one of many trades that could be worked out between us that would help both teams.
    Trade #1
    Houston trades:
    C Kelvin Cato
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)

    Memphis trades:
SF Shane Battier (9.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 30.6 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 22.1 minutes)
PG Brevin Knight (3.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 16.9 minutes)
SG Michael Dickerson (4.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.3 apg in 14.5 minutes)

    Trade #2
    Houston trades:
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)
    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)

    Memphis trades:
PF Stromile Swift (9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 22.1 minutes)
    C Lorenzen Wright (11.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 28.3 minutes)
SG Wesley Person (11.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 29.4 minutes)

    Trade #3

    Houston trades:
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes)

    Memphis trades:
SG Wesley Person (11.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 29.4 minutes)
SF Shane Battier (9.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 30.6 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 22.1 minutes)

    Trade#4

    Houston trades:
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)
    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes)

    Memphis trades:
SF Shane Battier (9.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 30.6 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 22.1 minutes)
    C Cezary Trybanski (0.9 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 0.1 apg in 5.7 minutes)
You can replace Cezary with any trash it will work.

I don't think there are 2 teams in the NBA that coulde help each other out more. Its jsut too good of an oppertunity to pass up. Cmon CD get of your ass and make the call.

No way do I want Battier. If you're saying Griffin hasn't done anything for us, look at what Shane's done! He really hasn't done anything in the NBA yet.

And I really don't want to trade Cuttino, Griffin or Cato for another list of guys who haven't done anything.

I believe he averaged around 15 points a game his rookie year.

Yeah, Battier did average more points. I just see more potential in Griffin as far as the future goes for some reason...

This is why any deal I put Griffin in has Swift coming back. I personaly think Griffin is going to be a very good if not special player. I have not given up on him like most people here. It's unrealistic to think he has even come close to his potential after only one year of college and 2 years in the NBA. Swift is very similar to Grif IMO.

Here is another one for you. :D

Houston trades: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes)
Houston receives: SG Wesley Person (11.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 29.4 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 22.1 minutes)
SF Shane Battier (9.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 30.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -0.2 ppg, -3.1 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

Memphis trades: SG Wesley Person (11.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 29.4 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 22.1 minutes)
SF Shane Battier (9.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 30.6 minutes)
Memphis receives: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 77 games)
SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 73 games)
    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 73 games)
Change in team outlook: +0.2 ppg, +3.1 rpg, and +0.5 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

I'm sorry! Here I'll type it slower for you since you're not to sharp. We need a SF/G, they have an abundance of them. They need a C with some size, we have one sitting on our bench. There did that help. If you don't like looking at trade proposals don't open threads that warn of them.

Rice/Cato for Person/Wright/Battier, if only West were dumb enough.

Reading this story made me want to revive this thread.

    http://www.gomemphis.com/mca/basketball/article/0,1426,MCA_466_2153528,00.html

Memphis Commercial Appeal: NBA teams are showing more interest in feet - not feats - judging by the awkwardness of this year's free-agent shuffle.

With several pairs of size 20 shoes prancing around, this summer has become one of the league's more active for big men.

More than a half dozen centers - including six that changed teams - have signed contracts since the free-agent signing period began July 1. Although the best available centers are no longer on the open market, the Grizzlies continue to explore ways to improve a frontline that averaged 6-11, 237 pounds last season.

The skin-and-bones Griz are realistic, though, realizing that (a) trading for a beefy big man is the only option, and (b) the potential addition's best attribute will be beef, not necessarily in interior dominance.

"It's not like we can get a Shaquille O'Neal," Griz president Jerry West said. "First, there's no one out there like him. Secondly, we're not in position to do that."

O'Neal fashions himself as Superman. Team executives are simply looking for centers with a different 'S' on their chests - one that stands for serviceable.

So the job listing most undersized squads have posted reads something like this:

Wanted: Experienced 7-footer with good character and a willingness to do the dirty work. Must be able to defend and rebound in the low post. Looking for someone to take pressure off star/budding star at power forward. Needs to show initiative and muscle in order to protect goal. Scoring not a requirement. Leadership ability is a plus.

The description is what made modest giants such as Michael Olowokandi, Brad Miller, Rasho Nesterovic and Alonzo Mourning coveted commodities.

I'm failing to see how two good centers is a bad thing. Cato easily played better and was a bigger asset to the team than either Griffin or Taylor last year, imho.

Its not a bad thing. Having to depend on a spent Glenn Rice and a not ready for the NBA Boki as our only 2 SF's is a bad thing. If we could trade Cato who is only going to get so many minutes Behind Ming for a player that would drastically improve our starting line up we should do it IMO. We desperatly need a 3 that we can depend on. Theres very little chance Glenn Rice can make it through the whole season and even if he does how much does he really have left? Boki wasn't even productive in the summer leauge. We can still get a servicable big man in free agency. Who backs up Shaq?

Point taken; however, I think comparing Shaq to Yao is a mistake. Shaq is a very talented, though whiney, all-star. Yao is talented too, but very likely soon to be burnt out from not being given a break. We could very well need Cato this upcoming season.

    I agree.

Note: Jerry West is replacing Battier with Posey.

Ya'll should probably keep Rice out of trade proposals unless it is to a team with cap space that can absorb the salary without us taking back the same amount, i.e., Les said after the season that the luxury tax won't be an obstacle to improving the team, then his lawyers probably showed him how much his divorce is costing him/how many seats still need to be sold in the new arena/etc.

If it is not Yao or Franchise we don't want anything on your roster.
