I get it. I just think that the Holocaust museum is a suitable punishment. It shows the seriousness of what they are imitating. I also tend to think with teens they aren't doing it as a love of white nationalists or their propaganda, they are doing it because of the reaction and outrage the white nationalists incur. They do that through ignorance. They are white and probably don't have the same sense of perspective on those issues at their young age. I also think it probably varies within the group. There are undoubtedly one or two that may be more legitimately sympathetic to the neo-Nazis. And others that are vulnerable to being won over and influenced by the propaganda. But my guess is that most of them have no idea why the things they are doing are so wrong and what the big deal is about them. This will be a chance for them to learn. I feel bad arguing about it because I'm only basing it on their young age. I have zero clues whether they are 100% Nazi sympathizers or 0% Nazi sympathizers. I certainly feel like white nationalism is every bit the threat for terrorism that extremist radical Islam is. So I feel like something should be done. I'm happy with what they've chosen to do about it.
I'm not discussing their punishment. Yes, I agree that they shouldn't be incarcerated or ridiculed for the rest of their life. This. I don’t think this is worthy of being a major news story based on what we know. I also do not think what they did (based on what we know) is worthy of being expelled from school. The article said the district dealt with it and the way the Rabbi handled it was perfect. He wants to give them an opportunity to see the real impact of nazism and sometimes being insensitive and ignorant is not acceptable.
I see no evidence that these were not kids trolling or being insensitive assholes. There is nothing connecting them to neo Nazi ideaology. When I was in high school I witnessed doing crap like this as a joke. They would get called out on it, punished and usually learned their lesson. If it escalated (which it didn’t at my school) then it would be dealt with more severely.
I think it would be interesting to see what online media they consume to see if it's just an isolated "kids being dumb" incident or if they are victims of online brainwashing "anti-sjw" content especially riddled in YouTube and Twitch gaming channels.

Lots of people go through that rebellious phase when they were teens, few of us rebelled by doing Nazi ****. These teens went through the trouble to learn a whole Nazi march song. When you do this, you can't complain about people thinking that you just might be a Nazi. We've all been through high school. I went to school at FBISD (Austin High School). I'm sure many people who post here also went to a school in FBISD. Can anyone ever recall kids being Nazis just to "troll"?
