    hey guys! quick question:

where can i go to just by a good helping of the crawfish veggies that are boiled with the crawfish? I really have a taste for it but don't want the crawfish, just the corn, potatoes and sausage, even!

Any crawfish restaurant should have them as sides

Thanks man. Do you have a personal favorite for the veggies?

Go to an Asian crawfish place down in Bellaire and Alief. Jolynn's (Beechnut and Wilcrest) is good and so is Crawfish and Noodles.

    Cajun style crawfish doesn't compare.

That's just a silly thing to say. It depends.

It's also not that hard to make it. Just boil up the vegetables in some spicy cajun seasonings.

That's what I was going to say. Just go to the store get potatoes, couple ears of corn and a pack of crab boil. I think it will be cheaper too

Zatarains. Also, pick up some Tony Chachere's seasoning for good measure.

There's a little more to it than that. For the best result add halfed onions, diced bell pepper, chopped celery, garlic, honey, halfed lemons, and butter to the boil seasoning. That's what makes the difference between ok crawfish and damn good crawfish. Go ahead and buy some shrimp to throw in there too.

I tried putting baby carrots into the my crawfish boil last week and it was surprisingly good. It gave a bit of a sweetness to the boil but it cooks fairly quick

Cajun crawfish is so much better than Asian crawfish. I prefer my crawfish to be boiled in seasoned water.

Not smothered in oily red gunk

I hate going out for Crawfish. I've been too spoiled by my friends who do big boils. I'm not paying 2 bucks extra for 1 measly potato.

The asian places typically charge for potatoes. You're right though, much cheaper to go to a reputable live crawfish dealer, and do the boil yourself.

Who can post the best recipe for the boil, though?

I love spicy food but hot damn sometimes the corn from crawfish boils melts the lips off your face.

For good taste and simplicity, Zatarains is the only recipe you need.
