Are we going to discuss this episode or just say that we liked it?:p
Man it was hilarious when Rust slapped that cop in the face, what an unreal moment. "I wouldn't arrest anyone one for hooking or drugs" "Quaaludes" "I don't sleep" His demanding of the six pack during the interview. His acting will make this show it seems.

I heard the horns and tattooed patterns are of Celtic origin, courtesy of my mom. I don't think that's a spoiler, just an interesting tid bit.

The guy who they got to play the victims old husband was great casting, looked like he was pulled right out of the meth trailer.

loved it. Rarely watch an episode of any show twice and have rewatched it the past two nights.

Kind of a slow episode tonight but I'm definitely digging it. Acting is phenomenal.

And woody harrelson is a lucky man...

Would like to see the pace pick up just a tad plot-wise, but it's really good. Harrellson and McConaughey are killing it.

Have any of you seen the movie Frailty?

I get that feeling from this show.

And it's funny that I get that feeling because McConaughey was one of the main actors in that movie. He was phenomenal in that movie, just like he is on this show.

But here's my feeling on it right now:

Ultimately, I think they are going to turn to one of these two guys as the prime suspect of the new killing.... and I think it's going to be Det. Hart

The "interviewers" are aiming all of their questions toward Cole's process in both interviews. I mean, in almost every scene where Hart is talking to the detectives, they seem to mention "we just want to get a sense of Cole's process." It's almost like they are trying to push him off the scent that he's being interrogated.

Then (in the first episode) they brought up the new killing, and Cole says "then you better start asking the right questions." Like he's saying "we are talking so much about how I felt, and what I thought, maybe we should start looking elsewhere."

Now in this episode, Hart mentions "you have to find a release anywhere you can get it," and he makes a big deal about the young girl being at the bunny ranch. Almost like he's trying to prove that he's moral.

    I don't know, maybe I'm completely over-thinking it.

You might be on to something there. I found it interesting that from the initial episode it looked like Cole was portrayed as the villainous dude and Hart was the straight laced one. But after last nights show, it appears that Cole is just ****ed up because of losing his daughter and months of hard core undercover work and that Hart is the one with the true character flaws. I'm not making any solid assumptions at this point though. It looks like it will be a long twisty ride.

Yeah, it is intentional. Could be right, could be done to throw us off the scent. That one dude, the one who wanted the Christian task force that is now looking into their notes, there's another possible road...

I don't remember anything from last night's show other than those goozers on that chick. She's gorgeous. Best show I've ever seen.

    That's actually another great possibility.

I don't know why I didn't even think about that.

Still interested, but it is a very slow moving story so far.

    Discussion of theories so far:
Cohle and Hart are the obvious suspects just because they haven't given us any actual suspects yet, and the way they are getting interviewed suggests that the current detectives think it's possible, but it wouldn't be that big a twist given the way they have set things up so far. I don't know if someone working with the religious taskforce might have something to do with the actual crime, or if they end up taking over the case or forcing the police to pin it on the wrong person just to close it.

Why are we using spoilers? I thought in show threads you could discuss an episode openly after is airs.

Also, that girl that plays Cole's side squeeze is impossibly perfect.

Eh...usually it's nice to spoiler after just the first few days just so people who haven't watched can avoid accidental spoilers, but once it gets to a week or so after the episode airs, it's fair game.

    This show is awesome.

Nice analysis Ziggy, didn't think about that either until now.

The 'plot' will reveal itself over the course of the show, I wouldn't get too hung up on it's pace. The show is a character study about duality, internal conflict and how people adapt (or break?) under outrageous stress. We should savor every minute of the interview scenes, they are the real meat.

Great show, has some really funny scenes despite the seriousness. Also...girl's nude scene was worth the price of admission. I'm really interested to see if the killer ends up being somewhat supernatural or if it's just going to be Cole's drug visions for all the special effects.
