A stadium implosion is a little more involved and has a larger potential for peripheral damage. So far, most of the old stadiums that were right next to new stadiums were NOT imploded... Some recent examples: Shea Stadium Yankee Stadium Busch Stadium Boston Garden Then again, they could demolish the part of the dome right next to Reliant, and then implode the rest.
They implode big building all the time. That big hotel in med center was imploded 1.5 years ago and it's surrounded by tons of other med buildings.
They imploded Three Rivers (man, did I enjoy watching that house of horrors go down) and it was less than 65 feet from Heinz Field.
I must admit, as a Cowboy fan, watching the implosion was sad...lot's of memories...Was able to see a game the last season there...horrible stadium, but lots of great memories... But of course, the new Cowboy Stadium is awesome...Just wish is was in Dallas...
just read that a 1/3 of the cloud that was produced after the blast was actually one of Irvin's coke stashes that he forgot about.
I've been to the Metrodome many times and it is nothing like the Astrodome. None of those domes have they type of structure like the Astrodome. To compare something like the Metrodome or RCA Dome to the Astrodome is like comparing a tent to a gazebo. Both are about the same size and do roughly the same thing but they are much different.
Oh yeah, when the 4th quarter started, they would open the gates and let anyone just walk in. Problem was, 83 through 87 were the really sucky years of Pelleur and 'Hogenbloom', so there was never much worth walking down there for. But it was fun the few times I did it.
Yup they were still doing that while I was there. My time saw greatness like Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter, Anthony Wright, Ryan Leaf, Clint Stoerner and Drew Henson.
