Met him several years back at guitar center. We had a show and needed some cables. He took pics with us and then came to our show. He was cool to us and really laid back. Hope he beats this.
Another band I haven't thought about in years. Best of luck to Bill, that's just about the worst cancer to beat, wouldn't wish it on anybody but at least it usually goes quickly.
When I was 14...a dorky white suburban 14...I had won a tape from 97.9. Had to go into the station to collect it. My parents drove me down there and I went in alone. In the lobby of the station office was all of the Geto Boys...right when they had made it huge. I was star struck. I was looking around for anything to get their autographs. All I could find was a napkin on the receptionist's desk. I went up to them and they couldn't have been nicer. They had some album covers pre-autographed with them but they still signed it with a note from each of them. Bill signed it, "Choose life. Try G-d". This was 1991 and I still have that today. Good luck Bushwick. Pancreatic cancer is a b****. I've lost a good friend to it already. I hope he beats it.
That’s a very cool story, dig that. Side note: Might have said it here already, not sure. My drummer actually set up a drum set in Scarface’s house that he purchased. I was also at Screamin Demon Tattoo shop the same time Scarface was getting a piece on his chest sometime in the late 90’s. I’m laughing as I type this, because he was not having fun to say the least. Never heard someone scream so much. You’re right though, my encounters echo yours, they were super cool down to earth dudes.
Get well, H-Town pioneer. So many youthful memories when thinking Geto Boyz. I believe Willie D is also heavy into the Lord. Be healthy and keep up the good work.
