"Prefacing the traditional declaration with a few non-scripted patriotic words, the president said: ``On behalf of a proud, determined and grateful nation, I declare open the games of Salt Lake City, celebrating the Winter Olympic Games.'' What do you think of Bush being the first president to break with the official declaration? I´ve read several press releases, not American of course, who believe this is the first "scandal". This self-centered attitude is typical of him imho.
Much Ado About Nothing. There are some things you can criticize Bush for, this is not one of them. Besides, why should I care about the Winter Olympics?
I'm just surprised he didn't end it with, "and we're gonna get them evil-doers, dead or alive, make no mistake about it."
I dont see anything wrong with it other than I had a hard time understanding what he said. I declare open the games of salt lake city open, celebrating the winter olympic games?. . . what, are these games a celebration of the winter olympics? But not the olympics. Seriously though its not that big of a deal. Lets get our panties in a bunch because George opened the games.
