As an unsuccessful businessman with a President War Veteran father to live up to, that drinking problem could have ended badly were Laura not there to put her foot down, and give him something to live for. I always thought that Rice calling Bush, "my husband," and coming from a woman who's never married (not that there's anything wrong with that!), and who hasn't had a boyfriend that I've heard of (unusual one hasn't popped into the public eye at some point, with the microscope these people are put under by the press) was beyond strange. I remember posting about this when she said it. As I recall, I said something like, "does anyone, anyone, know of a woman who's ever made a slip like that? Referring to a guy as her husband, who wasn't??" Truly bizarre. Of the triangle, Laura is the only one I like. She's a pretty classy lady, who's put up with an amazing amount of BS from her husband during their marriage. I just find it hard to believe Bush would be having an affair with Rice.
