I've been impressed with him for a few weeks now. He's been all over the field. He's maybe the lone bright spot of special teams. And with the second defense tonight, he flew around. I don't know about his pass coverage skills, though. Call me crazy if you want, but I want to see him play some with the first team.

I was thinking that until he made a tackle and then on consecutive plays couldn't shed a block from a WR.

Beast on special teams, not sure he's ready for much more right now.

Give him some starter's snaps in Barwin's role. Not permanently of course, but Barwin's got to be punished for that stupid FG penalty.

I know almost nothing about Braman but I'm inclined to agree with this.

What Barwin did happens on roughly 95% of field-goal attempts. I wouldn't hold that against him - just crappy luck that it got called. His inability to get sacks, however...

This is just not true Cat. Leaping in the air happens, but jumping onto the back of another play and then jumping over the line of scrimmage? LOL that does not happen on 95% of field goals. I've only seen it a few times.

Is this leap an attempt to block lower aimed FGs? I haven't rewatched the game yet, but I don't think he even had his arms raised.

Unlikely, he is a undrafted player that plays OLB behind two starters and a 1st round pick and they don't rotated the OLBs out as much as they do the defensive linemen.

He is a very good player, outside of Watt, he was the only player you can say had a good game.

I still refuse to believe this is what happened.

It looked like he jumped, fairly high, and as he was coming down, realized he was going to land on someone, so he put his hands down. when he put his hands down, he fell forward, over them, to avoid injury.

Should not have been a penalty, in my opinion.

That's fine. I don't know if he meant to leap over the line of scrimmage or not, but he did it. That doesn't happen every field goal attempt like Cat is saying.

I noticed him on special teams, kinda has a "Cushing" like motor. Don't know much about his talent level.

This. It happens all the time. The only difference is Barwin's extreme vertical, which made his landing on another lineman more "noticeable". You'll see defenders end up in the backfield via this method (rolling over them) all the time on field-goal attempts - it's just rarely ever paid attention to because it's irrelevant, not on camera and not called.

    Exactly.

He jumped up and landed on someone. He was not trying propel himself off of somebody else.

If Collinsworth could get his head out of his own ass, maybe he would have realized that and harped the officiating.

Cat, since it happens all the time, please show me a video of another play who jumps in the air, lands on another players back and then jumps across the line of scrimmage during a FG attempt.

Give me some time and I'll see if I can find some. It's kinda tough to find online video given that the vast majority of field goal kicks/extra points aren't in highlight packages. I'll see what I can dig up, though.

PS: The point is that Barwin DIDN'T jump across the line of scrimmage after landing on another player's back. He placed his hands out to brace his fall, then fell forward to avoid injury. That's what happens on a regular basis on attempted blocks.

Not like this. I've watched the replay and I've been on youtube today looking at kicks (Seabass and Akers highlights) and I haven't seen a single time where a player literally went over the back of another after jumping in the air.
