I'll agree... If we had a coaching concept like the Spurs do, we'd be better. I'll say that's true for any team in the league, because the Spurs are the best coached team in the NBA. I hate agreeing with this at all, on account of the fact that Bruce Bowen was/is the dirtiest player I've seen in the last decade... The day this guy retired I lost a lot of dislike for the Spurs..
Thanks Bruce, but we have known this for years. Morey and McHale do not care about defense. That's all there is to it.
Harden still guards Kobe well imo, not just when he was in OKC. He just only seems to put in the effort when he's up against a big name like Kobe or Lebron.
We been pointing it out all offseason. But apparently Morey's minion brigade don't comprehend criticism very well. The 2 coaches that actually held players accountable were chased outta town by Morey. Now we have a more "likable" coach who let's the players & GM walk right over him. How is it exactly trolling by speaking the truth? Thanks Bruce for restating what true Rocket fans have been saying all offseason. I don't need another 1st round exit to see something wrong with the culture in Houston. Morey's job should go as far as the coach he hired. This season is make or break
I've been trying to say this for awhile now. Houston's defensive problems go a LOT deeper than James Harden. He gets all the blame because he's the team's best player and he has all the "highlight" bad defensive plays. But there is clearly a lack of culture and accountability from the head coaching staff, and it's a huge problem.
When your team defense is still sucks with Howard and Beverly on the court, you know it's coach's fault.
And how is this news? Nothing new here. It all eventually boils down to coaching or lack thereof. The Rockets have and hold on to a muppet joke of a head coach in the pathetic McHale who is holding this team back. Most people get this except Morey (for unknown reasons) and several McHale apoligsts here on CF. Harden's D is the least of our problems. Who is holding him accountable? Who is designing a system to cover his lack of so called D?
HELL YEA!! spurs defense is predicated on rotations and not jumping at everything unless the shot is in the paint. Rockets lack this basic fundamental of team defense and its on the coaching staff to fix it .
The day the Rockets re-upped McHale is the day I gave up on this season, and more. The problem isn't just that McHale is a bad coach. The problem is that some combination of our GM and our owner is content with this level of coaching. That's a culture problem that no free agent can fix. And every free agent who wants to win a championship can smell it.
