Do you realize he's the first, 2nd and 3rd option on the Nets? Obviously if you get the ball that amount of times you're gonna get your points. The issue is efficiency, do you produce at a good rate to justify the amount of ball you're getting?

For all his "fundamental post moves", Lopez is a very measley 50.1 FG% from the field (for comparison's sake Dwight "no offense" Howard is going at a 59% clip for 17.9 ppg). 50% is good for a guard, but for a big man who only scores on the block that's downright mediocre. Marc Gasol, Stoudemire, Gasol and Bogut all shoot at a siginificantly higher percentage than him.

For the record I'll take Yao last year over Brook Lopez. With Yao at least you'll have a chance to sneak some games against the elite teams of the league. With Lopez? Forget about it. Don't get me wrong, Lopez is a really solid piece, but he's never gonna be more than a slightly above average player who'll always get owned by the good-to-great big men in the league.

Theres a reason the Nets became the worst team in history: Brook Lopez just isn't that good.

lot of sensitive yao fans here i see. lopez is putting up very solid stats. this whole judging an individual by the team results has gotten ridiculously out of hand. not everybody on a good team is good and not everybody on a crappy team is bad. get this, these guys have teammates who sometimes have an effect on the outcome of the game. crazy, right?

lopez's measly 50.1 FG% is pretty close to the percentage tim duncan has shot throughout his career (9 of his 13 seasons have been between 49.0 and 50.8%). in fact, even in a pretty efficient year for duncan, lopez is actually edging him out in true shooting percentage 57.4% to 57.3%. which is pretty much the same as pau gasol (58.1%) and is significantly better than bogut (54.9%).

and his PER of 21.1 is solidly above average (pau 22.3, bogut 20.2, marc gasol 20.4).

and for whoever said the nets would be in the playoffs if they had yao. are you serious? why, because of yao's awesome ability to get the ball and take over close games down the stretch? while yao is undoubtedly the better player, especially because of his intimidation factor, he's not worth an extra 30+ wins over a guy who puts up similar stats. and yao certainly wasn't worth that much more in his 2nd year in the league, which was the general point the OP was making by showing the stats the way he did.

Don't get me wrong...lopez is a great player. but i feel that his game is very simple as he does not possess nearly the kind of moves yao had nor the phyical talent howard has.

I think his stats are looking great. but honestly, i have not watched that many nets games (only about 10-15 games), but from what i have seen from him, he scores heaps is because opposing teams are kinda leaving him open. Yes he is playing great, but for me is because opposing teams are so concentrated on their guards either through pick and rolls or from penetration. a lot his points comes from either open dunks/layups of major mismatches through switches.

his problem is mental. i watched his games n he tends to be easily bullied by an opposite "tough" center. like how DH basically demolished his confidence.
