ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein RT @Al_Iannazzone: Uh oh. #Nets center Brook Lopez broke a bone in his right foot. He'll have surgery tomorrow (YIKES)
Al_Iannazzone Al Iannazzone RT @Nets_PR: Brook Lopez has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the right foot, Nets GM Billy King announced.
Pretty major ramifications there. That essentially blocks any reasonable avenue for the Nets to get Howard during the season, making his race wide open. Which, in turn, means Deron is likely to leave NJ as well. And no, I don't think Orlando will waive a physical and bet on Lopez coming back. For a big man, a foot stress fracture can be devastating and recurring, as we all know.
For Dallas. They will be getting either one of these two in FA market next year. Meanwhile, Rockets will be busy securing Jeremy Lin to a multi-year deal.
The Nets are completely nuked. I bet Howard gets traded to the Lakers and now they won't have to give up both Pau and Bynum. Bad news for the Western Conference. I don't believe for one minute Howard will play out the season in Orlando and sign with Dallas next summer.
I agree to an extent, I believe this hurts the Nets chances of getting D. Howard but by no means does it put them out of the race. As for the Lakers, I can't see Orlando willing to take an injury prone center and pau gasol for Dwight but you never know crazier things have happened.
Huh? Injury prone? people only remember what you did recently and what Bynum did last night is gonna be firmly in ORL's minds... Brook Lopez just got hurt...is there an alternative trading partner for ORL? There is none other than the Los Angeles Lakers. They'd be dumb to look in any other direction because Lakers have the most to offer in a package right now
