Also Hartenstien is the best option to drastically improve this team immediately and long term. He is under contract for the minimum for a couple more years and has way more upside than D-Mo at this point. Until Chris Paul's contract is off the books, our best chance for long term improvement is for us to lock in players at the minimum for multiple years and have them perform at a starter level. We can hope to get a bargain on the buyout market, but those guys are usually one and done if they are productive. One interesting thing about D-Mo is his strong history of big men not lasting long on the team after playing with him. Only Capela, Terrance Jones and Anthony Davis have completed 2 additional years with a team after playing a season with D-Mo on team. Please, not again. I'll take Marvin Williams before DMo. DMo is the past. He's not a difference maker. If not for some absolute crap, Ellington, Green and a Miami boy would have helped us immensely. Sprinkle that on Orlando and Portland's cold feet with Melo, we could have had a nice vet off the bench. Best of luck to DMo...just like Asik. If you want to bring back a former Rocket who was down to win at all costs, call Francisco Garcia, Ron Artest, or hell, Rafer Alston would be nice with the floater. XO (again)
@Codman please give us some updates for this offseason. If not that's fine hope you are doing well anyways
DMo is an NBA player, but he is making more money in China - if we have a spot in March, then why not to bolster our bench. He can clearly play as a role player in the NBA. DD
The last two seasons in the playoffs, the Rockets needed low post scoring. Especially late in games. Clint Capela has no post moves. Donatas became like Luis Scola in the post. Daryl really messed up, maybe cost this team at least 1 Championship if Donatas was here. In the Warriors series, the Rockets needed low post scoring in the worst way.
Dmo can still score against a WC contender, no doubt. He would still have problems in a switching schematic and under more pressure.
What we should do is promise him 4 mil a year for 3 years. Let him get super exited and prepared for it and the second before he writes his signature to the document just take it away from him in front of his face and say SYKE!
