Once again... Let's say the Texans don't give him that contract. How does that make us better? You are blaming them because he got hurt, as if they should have known that was going to happen. You realize that even with this injury, Cushing was going to get resigned, right? Probably the same exact contract. Even if he would have resigned cheaper (doubtful),there is NO way you can blame the Texans for not knowing he was going to get hurt this year. That's beyond stupid.
Feel really bad for the guy and the team. Nasty block by Charles, very upsetting. LCL tear isn't the worst news in regards to Cushing's career, so I think he can bounce back no problem next year. It's just really unfortunate we have to talk about him rehabbing a season-ending injury AGAIN. No fault of his own, of course.
I don't think so - that block on him that caused the injury was a dirty block that should be investigated. Twice he's been taken out by dirty, below-the-knee blocks, the last one from behind while he wasn't looking. It makes me sick that the guy throwing the block will probably not get fined or suspended.
I dont know whats wrong with this team... lost five straight.. then lost cushing...made me hate cowgirl even more
Hope Cushing goes on a curse filled tirade against the double standard and it makes the headlines. The fine would be well worth it.
It makes us better because we would not be locked into a top 5 ILB contract with a player who is coming off consecutive season ending knee injury seasons. If you think we would pay cush top 5 money EVEN WITH THIS INJURY, you need to put the crack pipe down.
my whole point is there was NO REASON to ink cushing up before the end of this season. ZERO. we should have let the season play out, and then paid him. It's not like we got a discount for doing the good deed either.
So you're saying we shouldn't have signed Cushing because he had a torn ACL last year? Is that it? You're worried about a torn ACL being a career ender/shortener/threatener for him? Really? Nothing that you're saying makes the Texans look bad. Locking up Cushing before the season began was one of the few smart things they've done in the past few years. Most would agree. Edit: OK, apparently you think Cushing would have signed with us for much less after this year with this injury. Once again, no, we probably wouldn't get a giant discount. And secondly, THERE IS NO WAY THE TEXANS COULD HAVE FORESEEN THIS. If we had signed him after this year, there is an equal chance he blows out his knee the moment the ink dries on THAT contract too. So really, you're pissed over nothing. Chill bro. We're all less than happy right now, but no reason to go manufacturing reasons to be upset.
Works his tail off to come back again only to watch his next opponents target his knees. The texans running backs should go knee shoppin rest of the season.
no, i am saying there was no reason to ink him up (regardless of injury) until his contract was up UNLESS he was willing to give a massive discount (which he didnt). it was a terrible, horrible, contract extension that will ultimately play a part in firing rick smith.
Ask the Ravens how that worked out with Flacco, if Cush would have been an all-pro and led a playoff run, i can guarantee you it would have costed much more. It was a calculated risk.
nothing you say makes any sense in regards to "good business". i'll leave you be. clearly we are not going to come to an agreement on this wretched cushing contract.
Once again, "no reason" is bullcrap. He's the heart of your defense. If you can extend his contract, YOU DO IT. The only reason you don't extend someone (provided they are only asking for what they're worth) is if you're not certain you want them back at the end of their contract. With Cushing, there is no way you could say the Texans would not want him back at the end of his deal. And if you're banking on them knowing he's going to get injured (which you are, apparently), that's just stupid.
