Marwin assist to home plate. Reddick to Correa assist to third base. And now Bregman to home plate. Amazing.
Incredible play. The margin of error wasn't just small, it was non-existent. McCann could have easily broken his arm/wrist on that play, even if it resulted in an out. Just the best possible outcome for Houston. https://www.mlb.com/video/mlb-tonight-demos-bregmans-play/c-1864952583?tid=42469262
I honestly believe this was a better play than the Judge catch, but you'll never hear anyone outside of Houston say that.
I have seen no ranking of the plays, but all the national stories I have seen mention how great the Bregman/McCann play was and point to it as the key play of the game. They spoke of it extensively in post game discussion as well.
If we had Gary Sanchez, not only would Bird have scored, but Hicks and Frazier would be at 2nd & 3rd with just one out.
Statcast analysis of the play. http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/259279422/astros-get-out-at-home-keep-yankees-off-board/
Huge play. It stands out, especially because the Yankees couldn't execute one play at home the whole series.
When SportsCenter did their Top 10 plays, the Judge catch was #2 and the Bregman play wasn't on the list.
I love that on the Yuli slide at home off McCann’s double, even THEN Sanchez could not catch the ball lol. At a certain point it’s not about the quality of the throw: the man simply cannot catch.
Where are the articles meticulously detailing Judge's catch?... You guys need to get over it. Judge's catch was fantastic. If the Yanks had gone on the win, that catch would entered the pantheon. It was huge.
