Right now Obama is announcing that he will ask for Congressional approval for limited strikes on Assad Regime. These will be unilateral with no UN approval.

Why is this decision to go to war being subjected to all of these public opinion trial balloons by Obama? Leaders make decisive decisions in times of crisis, not preview them and gauge popularity. This Congressional vote was the path this should have gone down at the beginning, not a fall back option after Parliament voted this down and Kerry's speech fell flat. Obama is making this move now to give himself political cover and to guard against Republican criticism. That's not leadership.

For the record, I think military intervention here is stupid. Obama's handling of all of this is even worse.

At least he's asking for approval. I think this would be a mistake, though.

I really don't think it matters what Obama does to you. The outrage machine is in full effect. It's a tired tactic dude.

Stop. We are being dragged into a no-win situation.
We are here trying to call Russia and Syria's bluff. What happens if they aren't bluffing and start a full offensive on Israel?

Going to war without political & public support is suicide for an administration. It's good they paused instead of being "decisive" like the last president.

Congress is doing obama a favor. this situation is to delicate to jump into right now. nnow he can wait and say he abided by the constitution. congress did the same thing by forcing srquester. They forced cuts that would have been politically unpopular but wete needed.

Disagree. Judging by each of the last two world wars, you need at least one major player who is itching for enormous conflict. None of the big players want that, but they all want to beat their chests a little bit.

Very happy that Obama will seek Congressional authorization.

I doubt it. I am not sure he is 100% certain it is the right thing.
